Oh thanks for letting us know a single is out. Can't wait to preview the track. I must admit, I'm very intrigued with what Coldplay might have in store.

If they do anything close to brilliant, I think they might just be showered with Grammys this time around.

I'm loving "Violet Hill". Very unique and very moody. They paint a vivid visual picture with the lyrics, and the more intense music matches it perfectly.

I also LOVE the album cover... HERE.

So looking forward to this CD now.

The cover is cool. Of course I would think so.

As for "Violet Hill"........fantastic! Sort of a different sound from Coldplay. It sounds epic -- hard and gloomy. The electric guitars!! And when they slow it down at the end and sing...

I took my love down to Violet Hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
So if you love me, won't you let me know
If you love me, won't you let me know

...great stuff. Cool

"Violet Hill" gives off the same vibe that Oasis' first single, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=SUgj11ZOtxE) "D'You Know What I Mean," from their downfall Be Here Now album in 1997.

Not a bad song, but a strange mood to put out as the first single. But I think the Oasis comparison is very valid... they didn't generate positive buzz by not releasing a pop song.

"Violet Hill" is pretty amazing. I particularly love Martin's voice on the "If you love me, won't you let me know" part. It's piercing.

I'm highly anticipating this album.

I think it bodes well for the song that is has a memorable melody and hook.

I've only listen to the track those few times and I can already hum it.

Violet Hill could be the best song they have ever written. I never really thought of them doing a political song but BRAVO! It's been on repeat non-stop in my iphone.

So the questions are: will this songs take off? and will it earn tons of Grammy love? I say probably and definitely.

It's Coldplay, so it'll chart next week. But once June rolls around, the label will rush out a ballad immediately.

You can pre-order the album on iTunes now. You can also listen to a bit of another song on the album (the song name escapes me right now). It sounds really good. It's nice to see Coldplay bounce back.

"Viva la Vida" is really high on the iTunes chart, but I thought "Violet Hill" was the single...

I'm lovin' both "Viva la Vida" and "Violet Hill." Both are awesome.

Is this album shaping up to be Coldplay's best? Based on the material so far, I wouldn't count that possibility out.

On a side note: I love to hear Chris Martin sing and I think "Viva la Vida" just complements that further. His tone is pure, serene, clear, and just flat out fantastic...it's just one of those voices that I could never get tired of hearing. So wonderful!

I'm soo excited for this CD. I loved "Violet Hill" and I love "Viva la Vida" even more. Great song!

My favorite song on X & Y was "Swallowed in the Sea" because besides the melody I love the story it paints with the descriptive lyrics. That's what I'm hearing so far with these first 2 songs, and it makes me really excited that the rest of the CD will follow suit and be as great.

Is there anyone else that feels these first two singles have been lacking?
