Not at all, I think "Viva la Vida" is a brilliant record and it's a great way to create excitement about the forthcoming album..in fact I like it even better than I liked "Speed of Sound."

Yes and no. I don't like "Violet Hill" and thought it was a poor lead-off single choice, but I adore "Viva La Vida" and think it's one of the best singles put out so far this year, and will hopefully manage both ROTY and SOTY nods.

The translation goes "Long Live Life" or "Live the Life".

Wow. I listened to this all morning at work. This is an awesome album, much better than X & Y, and maybe even better than A Rush of Blood to the Head. The standouts (for me) were Lost!, 42, and Cemeteries of London.

I heard on MTV that they said this albums was inspired by Justin Timberlake.. they said that they loved cry me a river and the music of justin timberlake because the music is perfect :s weird.

I got a special place in my heart for "Lost." lol...one of my faves so far.

Yup. Bravo to them. I've been harking on Coldplay for a couple years now that they NEEDED to change their sound. They did just that...and they rocked it. Easily a major AOTY contender.
I hope the Academy nominates their favourites this year, because they all delivered big-time. If the AOTY category was made up of Keys, Crow, Plant/Krauss, Coldplay...I'd be a very happy man.

This album is not better than A Rush Of Blood To The Head. After several albums by them, that album definitely epitomizes who Colplay is in a fantastic way. Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends slides in for an easy second.
My favorite cuts are "Lost?", "42", "Yes!", "Viva La Vida", "Violet Hill", and "Death And All His Friends." I pretty much like the whole thing lol, it's not a track-heavy album.
I'm not even a Coldplay fan. I was bored by A Rush of Blood to the Head (I only like "Clocks" and "Green Eyes"), X&Y and Parachutes.
With that said, this is an EXCELLENT album. This is easily their most accessible album. I like all of the tracks, but "Lovers in Japan," "Strawberry Swing" and "Lost" immediately stood out for me. I'll be picking this up on Tuesday.

After a thorough listen My standout tracks would be 42, Yes, Violent Hill, Viva La Vida, and Lost! (the alternative hidden version). I especially love how some of the tracks are like 2-3 minutes of heavy instrumentals at the end.
I'd give it 4.5 stars...
Not sure where I would rank it among all their cds yet.
