The only thing that was good was the chat. But where were the regulars? I got some crazy b*tch that kept telling me to stop reading her comments and to change the channel. WTF?
I thought the awards show sucked. The only ones that I thought were half way decent were Jay Z, Keisha Cole, and Maxwell. I liked Alicia's speech. I didn't think beyonce did very good at all, it seemed she was more concerned about the outfit, than the voice. I can't see where Sarah Mclachlan would've been proud of that rendition of Angel. And WTF with Drake, why sing it if more than half had to be bleeped out?
The show didn't seem like much of a tribute to Michael either. It seemed more like hype to get people to watch. It was more about Jamie Fox than MJ. Janet looked beautiful though, and her speech was touching.
Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."
"Music is powerful, it's a drug that makes your inhibitions go away and leaves your vulnerabilities exposed" - KC
OMG this was a HOT ASS MESS! Most of the performances were boring and bland. BET hyped this show way too much. Micheal has paved the way for EVERY artist in there and this is how they repay him? Im so ashamed to be black right now. BET was supposed to represent but instead they made us look BAD!
Did you guys see Lil Wayne with the little girls on the stage performing "Every Girl"? How classeless and sick can you be?
I love the fact that BET tried, but that show sucked like a prostitute on the streets of LA. There were only a few good performances. There were so many mistakes. They might as well edit the whole show. They really shouldn't re-air it. I understand that everything was last minute, but that was just horrid.
While I like Drake a lot, his stage presence is so not there. He was just sitting around on stage. I hope he lives up to all the hype he has been given. I was disappointed. While Beyonce sounded beautifully, her performance lacked something.
The whole show was just all over the place. There were a few high points but much more low points. Wow! I don't know what else to say. This isn't surprising, though.

I agree. BET could've done much better. The whole vibe of the show was BORING! No one had any energy during their performances. I dont even know If Im gonna watch next year.
I LOVE Jamie and Ne-Yo but why did they have to perform 20,000 times? The BET Awards show tonight was an embarrasment to black people and very disrespectful in honor of Michael Jackson!
Everything was supposedly last minute, so it was kinda understandable. However, they could have just went on with the original plan and add in a tribute to Michael. The show and tribute would have probably been more successful that way. They just threw in a bunch of performers who can't even perform, like Wayne, who was horrid as usual.
Jamie is a horrible host. He's up there with Damon Wayans as the worst host. They should have gotten Tyler Perry.
All of these award shows have been horrible the past few years. No joke!

I agree. Ever since 2003 Music and Awards Shows have hit ROCK BOTTOM!
Soulja Boy's performance was AWFUL! The dude cant sing for **** and should never attempt so again.
Ving Rhames drunk ass was an embarrasment! How come they didnt show any of the nominees?
well you can't have britney and madonna kiss at every awards show, and fortunately bet didn't hype britney's name like the mtv awards does every time
though i was looking forward to seeing whitney, as i thought she'd be performing boy was i wrong and upset
It was an ok show imo, given with what they had to work with..would've been nice to see more michael than the other performances, because as a celebration it was pretty tame...and then when they did try to kick it up a la lil'wayne it just looked sad
loved how monica "upstaged" keisha cole, and love jay's performance though
They actually had a classy moment at the end of the show with Janet coming out and paying her respects. Nice. The performance at the end was good too. The rest seemed to have been a bit off, but oh well. The winners were primarily expected. At the end of the day, it was Michael's day to shine.
simply awful...i wish they had gotten better, classier acts to pay triute. Would have been nice to see Whitney, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Justin Timberlake and Diana Ross pay tribute.
New Edition sounded horrible. Bad way to open the show. Jamie Foxx did a decent job as a host. Where is Mo'Nique when you need her? I wish they would have announced the nominees along with the winners.
I loved Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence as Sheneneh and Wanda. That skit was hilarious.
Overall, this show was a hot mess. A lot of the performances weren't good. Can we get a complete list of winners. I have to look at the performances again to rank them. Janet Jackson was the highlight of the show for me. Her speech was so touching.

Every single year, BET ropes people into watching their wack ass awards program and it never delivers on the hype.
They should be ashamed of themselves for that bitchassness that was on display last night.
And Beyonce's "tribute" was self-serving and boring.
Overall, the show was petty good! Maybe a couple of mic problems but everyone made it great for the last minute theme of Remembrance of Michael Jackson and it flowed very nicely.
I liked seeing all the oldies but goodies singers and yes, some of them showed some age. New Edition was just fine IMO. They gave alot of love for Michael and that was the most important part. Jamie Foxx was great as the host.
Janet closing out the show was the most powerfully emotional.
I would give the show a strong B with recognizing the fact that alot of changes occured at the last minute.
Originally posted by restless&wild: Did anyone see Joe Jackson get interviewed on the red carpet? This guy is a cold heartless jerk as far as I'm concerned. He talked about losing a superstar more than losing his son. And seemed like he was more interested in promoting some new record label he's starting, than talking about Michael. He'll never change. Here it is in case anyone missed it.
This is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. I started laughing when the publicist came up.
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
I'd heard reports that Prince, Stevie Wonder, Whitney, Kanye, Mary J. Blige, etc. would be performing or doing something on the show, so it was disappointing that those rumors weren't true. Some of the tributes really worked (Ne-Yo's solo number was nice), but others were underwhelming (Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo's duet at the end, Ciara's song), and downright horrible (New Edition, Guy). The night was heavy on sentiment and nostalgia (Guy, The O'Jays, Keith Sweat, Bell Biv Devoe, New Edition, Tevin Campbell, MC Lyte (kind of sad that she was the announcer), etc.). Some of the MJ tributes didn't work, like Jamie Foxx's "Beat It" get-up in the monologue, which came off as inappropriate parody. I did like the personal remembrances before the commercials, though some of these acts I'd never heard of were getting facetime that should have gone to the vets. Beyonce's angel act was bizarre but I couldn't turn away from it. Monica was great in that Keyshia Cole duet in a "I'm still here, dammit!" sort of way. Not announcing the nominees in most of the categories was pretty awful, b/c it made winning such an afterthought, like they were just giving the awards away. Alicia Keys acted like she was winning a beauty pageant in her humanitarian acceptance speech. The Wanda/Sheneneh trailer made my night. I'd never heard of Drake before, but wow. Janet's appearance was pretty heartbreaking and when the reality of things started to truly sink in. The technical gaffes and the marathon running time for the show almost derailed it, but I'll give most of it a pass just b/c of the impromptu nature of what they had to do in the little time they had to do it in. Jamie Foxx kept the energy up for most of it, or at least until maybe the last third. I'd guess that Alicia was right that there was a palpable energy in the room that night b/c of Michael that couldn't be completely captured for a home audience.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!
