He sucks. This was basically the Jamie Foxx show.

I do like this Maxwell song tho. And damn, he is a fine man.

Yeah, I cringed at that moment. And then he went on to say that Maxwell makes him "moist." Gross. When he started to sing "I'll Be There," I was like "Seriously? You made a fool of yourself for two hours and now you're going to try to be somber and serious?" He totally sucks.

Also, why was Joe Jackson there? Stay home old man. You're half the reason Michael Jackson turned out to be a mess and wound up dead at 50. Janet's appearance was a nice surprise though.

I liked Beyonce's performance. The dress was very Lady GaGa/Bjork. But did she purposely change the lyrics to "Angel" and put in the word "memories" instead of "reverie"? Maybe she didn't know what the word meant. JK. Kind of.

First of all...WTF was that piece of s*** ceremony they called a tribute last night?

2009 BET awards were by far their worst, longest, rushed, and unbearable. I didn't even want to watch it anymore!

The performances were lackluster and uninspired (with the exception of Maxwell's great vocals) but not even Beyonce did anything special (besides confusing the hell out of me with that truly creepy and bizarre performance).

The show was supposed to be a tribute to Michael Jackson right? So where was the excitment? Their pathetic excuse "Oh...well...we only had three days to come up with some stuff" doesn't mean anything to me.

Jamie Foxx didn't do anything either. He wasn't funny, he wasn't spontaneous, he was just there. And why did he perform with Ne-Yo every five seconds. I don't want to see or hear Jamie or Ne-Yo for a very very VERY long time.

MTV may do a better job paying tribute to MJ because they'll have a larger variety of artists to choose from but that's highly unlikely...

I'm going to give BET a break...it had to be really hard to find a balance to do a tribute to Michael and at the same time continue the awards show. Especially since they only had 3 days. Yes the show seemed kind of rushed and thrown together...but that is because it was.

I think maybe the awards show should have just taken place like normal with mentions of MJ by presenters & winners and maybe a video montage followed by one solid performance. Then at a later date BET could have done a full-on MJ tribute. But to try to do both at the same time was a mistake

Few Thoughts....

Loved Taraji P Henson's "So many people came up to me and said I should have won the Oscar". Who? Crackheads who didn't see any of the movies from the nominees?

Ne-Yo should either get hair tranplants or always wear a hat, because brother should never reveal that oddly shaped milk dud of a head when there are cameras recording.

Jamie Foxx was eh, but I still like the guy. (It might just be the butt).

Congrats Kristen! All the PD haters can (SPOILER ALERT) Suck it!

Taraji was good enough to warrant a nomination, so some people thinking she should win isn't that far off base. So calling them Crackheads is a bit extreme.

Also I think Ne-Yo removing his hat had to do with respect to MJ, so I have no problem with him taking it off...even if his head is a little odd looking roflmao

I was listening to Tom Joyner this morning and they were talking about this with Jawn Murray. According to Jawn, it was Jay-Z that got Chris Brown pulled. Jay-Z told Stephen Hill that if Chris performed the tribute, he would pull out of his performance. He also said how Beyonce pulled a diva act. She was suppose to open the show with a Jackson tribute. She wanted to perform "I'll Be There" but Stephen said he didn't want to open the show with a somber song and had suggested other more uptempo songs to get the crowd going. Beyonce refused and had threatened not to perform altogether. Jawn was saying how the producers didn't even know up until the last minute if she was still going to perform or not so New Edition was brought in to open the show.

Jamie Foxx should be banned from life after his quasi-roasting of "Beat It."

If true (and that is a BIG if)...I say good for Jay-Z and boo for Beyonce (and generally I really enjoy her)

As an African-American,I was embarrased by this bafoonery of a tribute. My goodness,Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer of all time in african-american music and this is what they give him?
Jamie started out okay but became crass.
Lil Wayne onstage with those kids?wtf?
BET is full of themselves and should be ashamed of themselves for putting on such a farce. All the extra media that came too!
I did like Ne-Yo's lady in my life,it was moving.
Keisha Cole and Monica were very good.
Maxwell's performance and setting was beautiful.
And I'm sorry Beyonce fans,I just didn't get why she had sing Ave Maria in a bodysuit and tiara and that weird see through wedding dress.
I just thought it was inappropriate for the occasion and the songs.
And Ving Rhames should be run out of Hollywood!

The O'Jays, and Tyrese,Trez, and Johnny Gill were fabulous! And Jamie and Ne-yo did good at the end.Overall this is the worst and most classless tribute I've ever seen.

Janet was very brave and had so much class. My heart breaks for her.

IF this is true, then Stephen Hill should be ashamed of himself for not letting Beyonce open the show with "I'll Be There." New Edition's performance was a damn shame.

I loosely agree with ellasgirl about the show. Overall, I think the ending with Janet, Jamie & Ne-Yo would have been fine. They should have simply made plans to work on an MJ tribute separate from the BET Awards. The idea to tribute the show to him was good, but it was executed wrong & they shouldn't have tried to redo the entire show in 2-3 days.

Any time Ciara is asked to do a performance that doesn't involve dancing, then you know there's a problem.

Was Micheal's father attempting to hype his video sales at this event? I heard he was out trying to make a few bucks!

I also see the opportunistic rascists Rev Al Sharpton is aligning with the Jacksons to get more free publicity... not to mention Jesse Jackson who seems to do this sorta thing frequently.

I'm beginning to understand what Lisa Marie meant when she couldn't stand the leeches and sycophants that MJ seemed to surround himself with. I hadn't realized one of them was his father.

Cripes, no wonder Michael grew up to be mad poor dear! I feel more empathy for the genius by the day.

I agree with most of you guys. The show was awful. Michael Jackson helped shape the music and video that this network plays, and this is the best they could do? Really? I feel they were using his name and tragedy to boost ratings and did not organzie a proper tribute to the musical legend. Also it's not really meaningful when some rapper, who just completes a bunch of nonsense lyrics, yells out RIP MJ as he walks off stage. I'd rather hear a nice 15 minute tribute from people that actually knew and respected the man personally. Janet's speech at the end was moving.

The only thing I really enjoyed was the OJays tribute and Maxwel. Monica and Keyshia Cole were good too.

Hold up. I didn't watch the awards so I need some clarification please. Am I correct in understanding that Tajari won and then said that in her acceptance speech? If so, WTF?!

No, she didn't say it during her acceptance speech.

I disagree that BET used it to boost ratings. People would've complained if BET aired the show and didn't mention his death, so you can't have it both ways.

Given the short notice, I think they did the best they could. I just think that they should have recognized his death during the show (not attempt to redo the entire thing), and then immediately announced plans to do a tribute special. That way, they would've acknowledged the tragedy during the show without delivering such a horrid "tribute."

Even if they only had 3 days they still could have did a much better job than that BULL****! They barely paid tribute to him at all and when they did it was crap! Beyonce was originally supposed to perform "I'll Be There/Halo" but I dont know what happened.

Ving Rhames ****ed me off. Who the hell told him to come on stage drunk as a skunk? A total embarrasment.

I also didnt like that Zoe Saldana mentioned that her co-presente, Nichele Nichols was in the ladies room and that's why she was late. That was very unprofessional and no one need to know that! I know it wasnt Zoe's fault but whoever's it was needs to be held accountable!

Thank you for confirming about Tajari. Whew I feel better. Oh and I agree about BET doing the best that they could given that they really didn't have much time at all. You're so right about not having it both ways.

I only caught a glimpse of the Ving Rhames part, and I turned my head. He was clearly drunk or just plain stupid.

Yes, I can't get over Zoe Saldana saying that Nichelle Nichols was unable to join her because she was in the ladies room. Da f*ck? dunno

There's really no excuse for this horrid award show. The fact that Jamie and the BET staff hyped up this award show to be something so amazing says alot. The show was just horrible from beginning to end. This has been the general consensus.

Naw Ving was clearly drunk!LOL

And I dont blame Zoe but they could have told her to say somethingelse.

Yeah the show was AWFUL! There really isnt a good enough excuse because even though they only had 3 days they could have did way better and have done way better in the past,so there's no reason they couldnt have done well last night!
