Agreed. It's much better to sell steadily.

However, I seriously doubt David Cook's ability to outsell her in the long run, unless he can cook up a string of hit singles like Daughtry did. And that's yet to be seen, because they had great promotion, whereas he doesn't.

Nickelback has the fanbase backing them that will keep their album selling for a long time.

They could probably have a relatively easy time outselling Beyonce. I don't think David Cook will, though.

Agreed. I am actually VERY surprised at the lack of promotion David Cook has received. It's like American Idol doesn't even try to market their winner anymore. I guess they think name recognition alone will sell albums, but they only goes so far.

Has "American Idol" ever properly promoted its winners?

Only Carrie Underwood's debut CD got the royal treatment and that's only because the country industry snatched her up.

I seriously think David Cook's CD will end up being a blockbuster, though. All he needs is one radio friendly single to get the ball roll and it's a wrap. And he has several of those on his album.

First week sales aren't everything.

David's first week sales seem really good. He's set to sell about 300,000 copies the first week. He, Taylor Swift and Nickelback are fighting for the #2 spot. This is a really close race.

Bey will sell throughout the Holiday Season, but I have no doubt in my mind that Taylor, Nickelback and David will rule the Xmas Season. Kanye West will also have huge #s in the upcoming weeks.

This isn't surprising, but according to Rolling Stone, new albums from Jay-Z, U2 and Eminem have all been pushed back to '09.

Eminem said on TRL last week that his album will be out in January.

No word yet on which quarter the other albums will be released.

50 Cent's album isn't dropping on December 9th. He's been pushed back as well.

Ludacris is about to flop...big time. I predict the lowest sales of his career, easily.

I don't understand what happened here, though. He used to be one of those rappers who dominated commercially...hit singles, multi-platinum albums, etc. This era, it just seems like he's barely hanging on.

Perhaps, it's just one of those cases of not having strong material? Because I haven't heard anything from this album that is nearly as catchy and/or strong as either "Money Maker" or "Runaway Love."

It's funny how T.I. completely surpassed Ludacris in terms of popularity.

I completely agree. Ludacris may not even go platinum with this album. It's his own fault, though. "What Dem Girls Like" is a terrible lead off single. Usually, Luda puts out strong first singles.

I do think T.I. stole some of Ludacris' thunder.

I've been hearing about Luda's album for months now, and I predicted in September that it would flop big time because, at that time, there should have been a whirlwind of promotion behind an artist of his status.

Coming out the same week as Kanye won't help him either. I don't think I've heard a single or anything. The bottom line is that this album hasn't been promoted and will easily become the worst-selling album of his career.

I think Luda and Jamie Foxx will both flop. Like 100-200k first weeks if that!

I don't think Keyshia will sell over 300k as well. Her first single is doing very little, maybe her new season will carry her.

50 cent pulled back too, because that was going to flop hard as well.

I just heard Luda's album.

It's TERRIBLE.

It deserves to flop. Most of the songs are either forgettable or repetitive.

Why in the hell does Ludacris have so many features on his album? How does he expect to pay all these people? With the revenue he gets from his flop sales?

It looks like Ludacris will pull in decent first week sales numbers according to HDD.

Plies is droppin his 3rd album "Da Realist" on December 16th!First Single is "Put It On Ya" featuring Chris J.

I have no idea why Plies is releasing another album just 6 months after "Definition Of Real"! Red Face This album will surely flop. The song with Chris J IS NOT First Single Material and isnt as catchy as "Shawty" or "Bust It Baby Part 2".

Musiq's new album, OnMyRadio, drops on Tuesday.

This is a really good CD. Some standout tracks include "Until," "Moneyright," "Loveofmylife," and "Dearjohn".

This album probably won't sell, but it's still good music.

Tori Amos is releasing a new album in either the Spring or Summer of 2009...

Tori Amos inks with Universal Republic
Wed Dec 3, 2008 4:49pm EST

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Tori Amos has signed a deal with Universal Republic and is eyeing a late spring/early summer 2009 release for her tenth album.

The singer-songwriter recorded with Atlantic from 1992 to 2001, after which she signed with Epic. That deal, which yielded three studio albums, ended this summer.

Amos' new album will be a blend of music and corresponding visuals shot on HD and Super 8 over the course of the past year.

Amos is also writing a musical, "The Light Princess," for the British National Theater and in July unveiled a graphic novel, "Comic Book Tattoo," based on her catalog.

What's going on with all these wack ass R&B/Hip-Hop albums being released?

I just heard Jamie Foxx's album; it's horrible. "Just Like You" is hot, but all the other tracks are so forgettable. I think this album is worse than his first one.

Keyshia Cole's album is boring, as is Brandy's. I re-listened to Common's album and wasn't feeling it at all like I (kinda) did the first time.

No wonder sales are down.
