OMG... all this hype for Brit Brit before the show (Kim Vo talking about 3 dif. hairstyles, the commercials, the poll on MTV, the time spent with her backup dancers) and now this... means she MUST be performing!

A stupid question..how can this be the "biggest comeback in entertainment history" when she just released an album less than a year ago? Wasn't "Blackout" supposed to be her big comeback? I guess because it didn't do as well as they wanted it, her camp is going to hype this as her comeback? And what happens with this album fails to make any major impression...are we going to be hearing about her "great comeback" in 2010 with yet another album? I am confused. I mean seriously, how many chances at a big comeback does someone with medicore talent to begin with need?
This new album will do no better than "Blackout" did no matter how much they try to hype it.

This would be her official comeback because she really didn't get involved much with Blackout's release besides that VMA performance and all that drama that surrounded her life at the time.
This time around you'll be getting the performances, interviews, promo events, tv specials, etc.
I expected a better analysis of this issue from you. The new album should be able to perform better than "Blackout" if Britney is more involved with this project. She wasn't with "Blackout" and it still managed to reach Platinum. She just needs to clean up her image which she currently is in the process of and open up to the public and see if they warm up to Britney again. One thing for sure is the general public does love a comeback story. Why must you always be so negative Troy? You've been quite bitchy....I think you may need a hug...lol

Not trying to be bitchy. Just observant. I don't know.....I think most people knew that Britney had an album out with "Blackout," and as the old cliche goes....even negative publicity is good publicity. "Blackout" is a good album, but I think it did about as good as it was going to.
I think a misconception exists among Britney's die hard fans that people are just dying to "restore her to glory" so to speak, but I think the truth is that most people have moved on from her music. Sure, she will sell records because she has a die-hard fanbase, but I seriously do not think that she is going to attract the new fanbase needed to have this "biggest comeback in entertainment history." I can get into all the details of why, but can best sum it up as this isn't 1999 anymore. A lot of her from that period fanbase have outgrown her (see New Kids on the Block in the early 90's) She also has to compete with a whole new younger (and in most cases, more talented) group of female artists who have a more squeaky clean, better image that attracts the younger listeners.
I am not downplaying what Spears has accomplished and I could be wrong in my outlook on her new album. Hell, if it is even half as decent as "Blackout," I will probably buy it (like I did "Blackout). But if she and her label are really expecting this to be the "biggest comeback in history," I think they are going to be sadly disappointed.

"Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you officially and unequivocally," Ryan Seacrest quoted her manager, Larry Rudolph, as saying on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday morning.
Rudolph told Seacrest that Spears "is in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and was never supposed to perform at that show." (Listen to Seacrest make the announcement.)
The possibility of Spears performing had been rumored for weeks. (Her hair stylist Kim Vo even told E! News that he was creating three VMA looks for the singer, hinting that one of the 'dos was for her performance.)
See photos of Britney Spears' sexy new bikini bod.
The singer is still involved in the show in some capacity, however.
She is appearing alongside host Russell Brand in cheeky TV spots promoting the September 7 show.
She is also up for three VMAs — including "Video of the Year" — for her song "Piece of Me."
Spears has never won a "Moonman," despite being nominated 17 times.
Last year, she raised eyebrows after her rocky opening performance of "Gimme More." The New York Times called her "awful," writing that she "tottered around the stage, dancing tentatively and doing nothing that sounded or looked like real live singing."

VMA Throwdown Thursday: Between Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, Who’d Win A VMA For Most-Improved?
You’re probably so far beside yourself with the news that Christopher Mintz-Plasse (a.k.a. “McLovin!’”) will be presenting at the 2008 VMAs that you’re, like, sitting across the room from yourself.
Not that McLovin’ doesn’t deserve some serious VMA McLove, but you know who deserves even more love right now is former badgirl Lindsay Lohan. Not only is Lindsay presenting too, but she also totally deserves a VMA for Most-Improved, which is a new category that we just made up.
Of course, she’d have to beat out Britney Spears, who’s also done a total 180 this year and is basically like the old Britney but better, stronger and more domesticated than ever. Seriously Britney, even bestie-for-hire Paris Hilton has commented on your perfection, and trust us, she knows a few things about the power of reinvention. And, as you can see in the video below, LL Cool J is pretty much Britney’s numero uno fan right now.
So Britney should get a made-up Most-Improved Moonman too, and she should also FINALLY win an actual VMA since she’s been nominated for 16 VMAs and has never gone home with one (!!!). But you know what they say — 17th time’s a charm, and this year Brit has three chances to win since she’s nominated for three VMAs – Best Pop Video, Best Female Video, and Video of the Year.
And it’d be even more supremo dreamo fantastic if Britney came to the VMAs to pick up said hypothetical VMAs — real or fictional — in person. And now would be an ideal time for me to plead: Britney, PLEASE come to the VMAs! Pretty PWEASE!?
Anyway, who should win the Most-Improved VMA? Lindsay or Britney?
^^WTF?????? Something is going on cause Why would she NOT attend. Its perfect to show up and present looking hot and Fine! I guess we will see next week.
After almost one month ago, when we told you about probably Britney’s first new single (Underground), we have to say you officially that this song called ”Underground” has been confirmed. This information was confirmed this weekend, minutes later after the reunion, where Britney and Larry together with Jive, talked about her new album and about her big and amazing new single. Let’s remember that we had told you one month ago, that in August later it would occur a reunion. So, It happened this weekend during this period that we didn’t have any news about her. We only don’t make sure, if she is going to perform it on VMA’s, but let’s see what is going to happen at this night. It’s a dance electronic, a mixture with a frenetic pop, that demands her a little effort to choreograph it.
Another thing that we just gotta let you know, is that the magnific VMA’s surprise absolutely is Britney Spears. Wait for it and don’t get anxious, guys.
Britney Attending VMA Part On Wednesday…More Rumors Of Her Performing
Despite denials from manager Larry Rudolph that Britney Spears will be “performing” at the Video Music Awards this weekend, whispers are that she is still making an appearance as a presenter in the highly anticipated awards show.
We’re told that everyone from the production crew to wardrobe are preparing for the pop princess to make a comeback, although nobody from MTV would officially confirm.
What’s interesting is that an inside source said Britney has her own dressing room. Either the gal is getting super-special treatment or she will do a little more than simply hand out an award.
The pop princess has also RSVP’d for 944 Magazine’s MTV VMA pre-party to be held at Hollywood hotspot Kress on Wednesday. So if Miss Spears does show that will mark her first officially scheduled party appearance since she launched Las Vegas club LAX exactly one year ago.
BreatheHeavy.com has received word from the Spears camp this morning that Britney will NOT be attending 944 Magazine's VMA pre-party on Wednesday despite reports saying she would.
"In an effort to use Britney's name for publicity, 944 Magazine claims Britney will attend their pre-party," says the source. "There is no truth in this. Britney will not be attending."
No official word has yet been given as to what plans, if any, Britney has for this year's Video Music Awards which are being held Sunday, September 7th.
Despite her train-wreck performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last year, the network confirms Spears will kick off the show once again.
But it won’t be a performance. Instead, MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler said Wednesday, it’ll be something “fun and unexpected” on Sunday night’s show.
Unexpected is probably the kindest way to describe Spears’ performance at last year’s VMAs. In what was heavily promoted as the troubled singer’s comeback, she instead gave an unfocused, almost unwatchable performance of “Gimme More,” one of the many lowpoints in her year of debacles.
So what made Spears and MTV reunite one more time?
“MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated,” Spears said in a statement.
“I think for Britney, people are rooting for her, and she’s really on the road to recovery,” Toffler said, noting that MTV had nominated her for three VMAs, including video of the year, for her clip “Piece of Me.”
“It feels like it’s her year,” he added. “It’s our 25th anniversary of the VMAs, and she’s been such a critical piece of MTV’s history.”
Spears also equals ratings gold: Last year’s VMAs were up 23 percent over the 2006 show.
In recent months, Spears, who’s working on a new album, has appeared to have cleaned up her act. Her father James has been in control of her personal and professional matters as her legal conservator, and she drew high ratings and positive reviews when she made guest appearances on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” earlier this year.

Well this seems to seal the deal that she's winning.
