Ok so Ashlee Simpson may not be the most artistically talented singer out there. In fact she may very well be the complete opposite. She may not sing or even perform well live. But her new album Bittersweet World, is actually really good. For the most part she did away with her guitar driven pop/rock sound, for a more urban one. completely ripping off Gwen Stefani in the best way possible. Timbaland really did some good work here.

1. Outta My Head - albums first single. didn't really catch on at radio. can be a little annoying at times, but overall catchy and fun

2. Boys - Love the synth production. could make a good third single

3. Rule Breaker - reminds me of some 80's song that's name escapes me at the moment. her vocals are a little sharp and at times she more yelling than screaming

4. No Time For Tears - could be filler

5. Little Miss Obsessive - 2nd single and best track on the album. the male backup vocals are what really make this track i think. although even without them it would be a stellar song. def her best song to date

6. Ragdoll - still unsure of this track. her vocals have a weird Sweet Dreams kind of feel to them on some of the verses.

7. Bittersweet World - not bad. not great

8. What I've Become - like the guitars in the background. her voice really shows some of its weak points here.

9. Hot Stuff - not sure how I feel about this song. def sounds like a ripoff of Bubble Po Electric

10. Murder - Ashlee with a reggae sound. sounded weird to me at first but quickly grew on me. now one of my faves

11. Never Dream Alone - probably the only real ballad on the album, and a good way to close it. her lyrics leave a little to be desired, but her voice actually sounds decent

Overall I'd give the album a B+. Definately her best album yet. But then again... its Ashlee Simpson.

I'd be interested to see what Ashlee Simpson does. I'm not gonna lie, a few of her tracks are guilty pleasures of mine, including that "Outta My Head" song.

Though, I'd never buy this album. I'd have to stream it online lol.

This album is gonna flop so bad. "Outta My Head" failed to receive any significant airplay at radio and flopped. Now "Little Miss Obsessive" is experiencing the same problem.

she's not going to top autobiography in quality or sales... sorry. that was her only good album.

really? I absolutely despise that album. i can tolerate Lala and once in a while Pieces of Me if I randomly hear it on a radio station.

you're probably right. with two failed singles there's not much hope for her. Which kinda saddens me because I do think this is a pretty decent album

sadly, this album hasn't been getting much buzz and hype. it's a shame coz i actually enjoyed this one. and i'm not even that big an Ashlee Simpson fan.

i love the hip 80s vibe that this album has. and i agree with EW's review that most of the hooks sound sooooo Gwen Stefani. and the thing is, it actually works for Ashlee. she pulls if off and carries it well.

but yes, it's bound to be a flop. sad sad sad.

Im sorta ashamed to say it but I like this album. Outta my head was fun and catchy and Little Miss Obsessive was fire and I cant believe they both failed and are flops!!! It sadens me because LMO is really good but radio almost refuses to play Ashlee. I think this album is going to be a HUGE flop...but hopefully she can outsell her sisters last album(Jessica Simpson..A Public Affair...anybody remember??)

FLOP!!!!

SIMPLY SIMPSON: Ashlee Simpson, or should we say Mrs. Pete Wentz, will be the highest-charted debut next week with her new Geffen album, Bittersweet World, on track for between 50-55k in sales, a figure that could go higher consider she’ll be on the hit ABC show, Dancing with the Stars tonight.

Those wacky, Grammy-winning Kiwis The Flight of the Conchords make their full-length debut on Sub Pop through ADA, which could do around 30-40k, fueled by its current #1 status at iTunes. Rhymesayers/ADA’s Minneapolis art hip-hop duo Atmosphere will chart with approximately 30k, followed by Universal South’s country music legend Phil Vassar (25k) and Epitaph/ADA’s emo-punks Story of the Year (20k).

The market was up 2% vs. last week, down 8% vs. same week last year and now down 11% year-to-date, with all the upward mobility of a wife in a polygamy cult in Texas. (4/23p)

I saw her on dancing with stars last night, and although I liked the song, I thought she sucked. The girl has zero talent as a singer. I think singing was just a whim of hers because her big sis "was" so famous. She spun off from her, then went for a singing career. Those studio tricks with autotoners must really work well. upchuck

I can't bring myself to buy an album from a fake. Nope

Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson:
" The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."

I don't like her, but I don't hate her.

The album is getting a 66 on Metacritic, which is right around what the latest Alicia Keys and Mariah album has on there.

The reviews I've read admit that she does bite some styles but that she does it well, creating a record with fun, decent songs. Of course, there were the critics that panned it, including the especially bitchy LA Times.

I saw that "Dancing With The Stars" performance. I agree she wasn't that great but I did like the song. I might just check out the album just to see what she does.

I don't even know why I'm in here discussing this. Guess it's something to talk about in this lifeless forum lol.

I know what a shame, "Murder" would've been a killer single.

I didn't even know Ashlee Simpson had an album out.

It must have flopped big time.
