You can bet vets like Quincy Jones, Sheryl Crow, Al Green, Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney, etc. vote EVERY year. And they vote for their friends and the artists they respect the most.
But do we think NARAS voters like Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, T.I., etc. are voting?
I will NEVER forget what Nelly said on E! years ago on the Grammy red carpet. He said he didn't even bother voting for the Grammys until he thought he'd have a shot at winning one. And sure enough the first year he voted was the year he won his first two Grammys.
This is part of the reason why we keep getting the same winners over and over again...the veteran voters are consistent with their voting patterns. The younger generation is not.
Also, I have a friend who's one of the younger SAG voters. He didn't even bother voting this year and didn't know who was even nominated.
If you don't vote you can't complain. Apathy gets you no where so maybe the young voters of the NARAS should take a cue from the young voting demographic of the U.S. population.
Same goes for the young voters of SAG.

I doubt all get a ballot.
OK..lol..I'm just curious how Ashlee Simpson became a member of NARAS? Does anyone know?
I'm not sure; but she shouldn't have gotten one. She was picking folks based on looks, friendliness, and all that other bull.
Really? How do you know?
I watched her show once or twice, and one of the episodes showed where she was filling out her ballot. I nearly forgot about it, until someone brought it up.
Instead of NARAS using a cumulative voting system, maybe they should take samples of the demographics. For instance, have all voting members vote, but only take x amount from age 18-29, x amount from age 30-45, x amount from age 46-60, and so forth, so all age brackets are represented equally. Of course, the selections should be completely random, and x should statistically reflect, as closely as possible, the population concensus of the voting body.
There are many ways to do it; divide it by age, by genre of music, by artform (i.e. musician versus recording artist).

So they vote for Beyonce, Alica and Alison because they give them a hard-on?

yes! i remembered it, she was voting for the girl who sang "redneck woman" or something like that... she said "oh she was nice to me, i vote for her.."
What exactly are we complaining about? Plant/Krauss, Coldplay and Adele won the General Field categories. This is a disappointment? The Academy nailed it.
Sure, Coldplay could have won ROTY instead, but Please Read The Letter is a fantastic track.
Are we complaining about Duffy winning over veterans like Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, and James Taylor (who according to DoubleD's vote should be winning because all these veteran artists vote for each other?). Or maybe it's Adele winning over the PR machine behind Leona Lewis?
Maybe it's Lil Wayne sweeping the Rap categories when he had the biggest selling album of the year.
