I haven't settled on real predictions yet, but I think that Taylor Swift will finally break into the Grammys with AOTY, SOTY, and ROTY nods for the country block; Kanye West will get in for his fourth album of the year bid; Green Day and U2 might be competiting for one rock slot in AOTY instead of getting two outright; the veteran slot could be Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, or in a semi-surprise, Diana Krall; Lady GaGa could really upset things in ROTY & AOTY; Beyoncé gets into ROTY for "Halo" and not "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"; Eminem misses AOTY but becomes the de-facto winner for Rap Album unless "808s & Heartbreak" goes rap; David Cook could emerge as the frontrunner for Best New Artist by the time eligibility's over unless something huge happens from now until the end of August -- right now, I have David Cook, Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, Phoenix, & Kid Cudi.
Congratulations, Primetime Emmy Winners!

I completely agree. I think we're going to see five unknown acts score BNA nominations.
Neither Hilson or Cook have the buzz to pull off BNA nominations at this point.
I wouldn't say Keri has no buzz at this point. "Knock You Down" is one of the biggest songs on radio right now and gaining in airplay everyday. It also outpeaked her first single, "Turnin Me On," on the charts. "Knock You Down" is looking like it will hit the top 10 soon. Keri's album has been selling about 20K weekly, so she definitely has some buzz at this point. It makes little to no sense to say that an artist who has little to no buzz probably won't land a nomination, then turn around and say that a bunch of unknown artists will fill up BNA spots.
There's no way in hell that the panel will nominated all unknown acts. They will nominate at least one popular act to draw ratings, hence the Jonas Brothers' nomination last year. I do expect one or two unknown acts to land nominations.

Preach!!
I'm calling it now. Look out for Jessie James in Best New Artist. She's an "Under The Radar" new artist to look out for. I expect her to explode within the next couple of months.
I know I may be in the minority, but I can see The Climb taking a SOTY or ROTY slot. If the song holds on the it wont be out of the question. And to be honest, it isn't the worst or (would be) most surprising nomination in these categories.

Isn't she the Country chick who sounds a bit like Christina? She'll probably take up the Country spot.
Have you ever heard of Melanie Fiona? She's from Canada (Toronto I believe). She's reminds me of Jazmine Sullivan and Amy Winehouse. If they don't go with Keri Hilson in BNA, then I see Melanie Fiona taking the R&B spot.

Yeah I just heard of Melanie Fiona the other day on radio. Her debut single is pretty good.
And yes, Jessie James is the Pop/Country chick that sounds like Christina Aguilera. Her voice is just amazing.
If anybody were to say last year around this time that Adele would be nominated or even win the Best New Artist Grammy Award, you would have thought they were crazy.
Therefore, I wouldn't count out any "Under The Radar" artist. You guys should check out Jessie James. What do you guys think of her chances at landing a BNA nomination?

They nominate 'under the radar' artists every year so the category would be balanced between different types of acts. She has a chance. Does she have any singles out? Is her album out yet?

Yes, her debut single "Wanted" is starting to take off at Pop radio outlets. I believe that her album is due out in July orchestrated by L.A. Reid under the Island/DefJam label group.

I think both David Cook and Keri Hilson have done enough to get into Best New Artist. If they don't have the buzz to get in, I don't see how five unknown artists with theoretically no buzz would somehow get in there instead of them. That doesn't make much sense. I don't think the BRP will go off of the script to that degree. Hilson could get the token R&B slot, but the one thing that worries me about David Cook is that I thought Daughtry would be an easy bet to get in too for their cycle, and then he ended up being snubbed there. He looked like a better prospect then than David Cook does now, but Cook is in a less competitive field this eligibility cycle than Daughtry was.

I'll have to add some random ones.
You don't have to follow that contender list fully. Add in what you think should be nommed even if it hasn't been mentioned here before. Remember its a secret ballot. You can't get stoned for nominating Miley Cyrus can you? lol
While I like "Poker Face", if its nominated for ROTY, fine but if its come close to winning, I might have to do a big vomit fest for that. The song is decent but I will see it as one of the worst wins.
Anyway, I haven't heard any outstanding tracks (except Maxwell "Pretty Wings" & Keri Hilson "Knock You Down") that should be either ROTY or SOTY. However, I'm hope those two I mention above could sneak in those categories with the former getting into both and the latter getting into ROTY.
AOTY seems weak too. I'm tired of reading Kanye's name in AOTY so I hope he is snub. Good album but it doesn't have staying power with me. Taylor Swift would be vomit mess as well. The Dream should get in it, imo.
.... Even if you are a million miles away, I can still feel you in my bed, near me, touch me, feel me and even at the bottom of the sea, I can still hear you inside my head, telling me, touch me, feel me, and all the time you were telling me lies

Keri Hilson doesn't have much critical or commercial buzz following her -- just a pair of singles that have performed well on the charts. Therefore, I think her GF hopes are limited outside of Best New Artist (which I think she should be nominated in, hell, possibly even take home the trophy!).
I would love to see Maxwell nominated for SOTY for "Pretty Wings." I wonder how his chances are.
And even it is nominated, "Poker Face" IS NOT winning Record of the Year.
