I think that "Single Ladies" is still a very strong vocal performance. Its production values make taking Beyonce's performance for granted very easy. But if it's eligible, I do hope that it wins R&B Female. If it's ineligible, then I really hope that Chrisette Michele ("Epiphany") or Jazmine Sullivan ("Lions, Tigers & Bears") can pull off the win.
Unless they place "Halo" here, in which case I think Beyonce should & will win.
I don't think there are any front-runners in some of these categories in the R&B field until we are sure what's eligible or ineligible and what material will be submitted where. I don't even think Prince is a front-runner to win Best Male R&B Vocal Performance or Best R&B Album. His album reviews weren't all that great, and even though his sales started on a good note, his album is falling each week. The only thing he has at this point is his name. I don't even think he has an official single out on radio.
Chrisette Michele, Musiq Soulchild, India.Arie and Anthony Hamilton all received strong reviews for their albums, and their albums landed relatively impressive numbers in their debut weeks, considering that they received little to no promotion. Maxwell's "Pretty Wings" is climbing both the Hot 100 and R&B Charts weekly, and its airplay is increasing. The first installment of his 3-part album will be in stores before the cutoff date. So, I think they all are still very much in this game to win a Grammy or two.
These next upcoming months should be interesting. I think we will see some songs released before the cutoff date. The record labels will take note of the shortened eligibility period. I think we'll have a better view around the end of the summer.

I like "What You Do" a lot better than "IfULeave." "IfULeave" certainly deserves a nomination, and I wouldn't object to a win, but it just sounds like "Teachme" part two. That's my only problem with it.

Yeah. I agree. He has made some incredible classics as a soloist and group member of the Commodores. His new music isn't in the same realm at all.

I agree. "Differences" should have been nominated for R+B Male in 2003!
Will Jamie Foxx take any Grammy's this year? I feel like he will get a lot of nominations and no wins...except maybe Best R/B Song. But I have a feeling that he might lose that too. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Jamie Foxx is going to recieve a lot of nominations, and still go home with nothing...
I think Jamie Foxx has a chance at taking Best Contemporary R&B Album based on his latest success. Actually, I think he is the only male that is almost a sure bet for a nomination if submitted.

He will definitely be nominated in this category, but I can see Beyonce taking it, if she gets nominated too...
I'm not 100% convinced that Jamie Foxx's album will be submitted to Contemporary R&B Album. I remember posters on here saying that his last album, Unpredictable, would go in Contemporary R&B and it was submitted in R&B Album.
As far as winning, I think his chances will depend on category placement. It would be wise for his camp to submit him in Best Contemporary R&B Album. He's the only one that can challenge Beyonce.
