Should be "Light & Dark" or "Lightness & Darkness"
Guess that is the English Major in me! hehe
My head is spinning at your hypocrisy and double standards Troy.
Oh please. Give it a rest. I am only taking cues from you in finding things to nit-pick about. Go pop in a Madonnna CD and eat a couple of twinkies and you'll be fine.
Besides, what I am saying about this album title is not remotely the same thing that was said about Mariah's album title and you know it. Nice try, but no hypocrisy or double standards here..I have never said anything negative about Xtina on here. I love her; she is one of my favorite artists.
The title is awkward though from a grammatical stand point. Not juvenile, stupid, immature, ridiculous, or crappy. Just awkward. Again, nice try.

I didn't realize I was so influential! Actually, I was comparing your nitpicking the grammar of "Light & Darkness" with my "nitpicking" the grammar of "I can't wait to hate you make you pain like I do." I'd expect an English major would take issue with the lyric too, or at least recognize why it might bother someone else.

And as an English major, I am also quite aware that sometimes language is played with to create rhyme, beat, etc.. which is very much (and VERY obviously) what I think the lyric of HATE U is intended to do. I can't say the same thing about this album title.
Apparently, you haven't read much poetry.

^ Clearly Mariah's misuse of grammar is intentional in the lyric, but that's what bothers me. Ditto for "my peoples." It might fit the song perfectly and it might work wonderfully (we haven't heard it yet), but it's part and parcel with the criticism she's received for her image as well. It scans to me as an attempt to appeal to a younger, "hipper" hip-hop audience and it rings false to me in comparison to most of her writing. I don't see why a mature conversation can't be had about those issues without you injecting personal attacks.
Your response was perfectly civil and fine but then you had to go and add that last sentence. Apparently I haven't read much poetry? I've won several awards for poetry and writing, and I say that only to show how presumptuous your personal snipes are. I "get" what she's doing in the lyric. I just think it's lazy and/or calculated and/or inauthentic. The lyrics to "The Roof" and "Close My Eyes" are poetry to me.

Congratulations.
Again, we haven't heard the entire song, so drawing strong opinions about it based on one lyric is rather silly.
Obviously, as usual, we shall agree to disagree.

I just found out on Pulse that Christina's first single has officially been mixed and its ready for radio.
It's been said that a Tricky Stewart produced track co-written with Claude Kelly will be the first single.
Claude Kelly is a successful songwriter who has wrote songs for Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis, Brandy & Akon, His most recent successes were co-writing such big hits as Britney Spears' "Circus" and Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You".
I can't wait to hear this song.

I'm predicting that Christina will service the single to radio June 30th.
I hope you're right.
I also read The-Dream posted on his twitter page that the songs he and Tricky Stewart did with Christina Aguilera were "mind blowing." He described her first single as a "summer anthem."
This is great! I've always wanted Christina to work with The-Dream.
Everyone else might as well forget about winning "Best Female POP Vocal" because the queen of POP is back LOL I am so excited about the release of this album and single.

I read on another forum that the cd won't be released until early 2010 due to the movie Burlesque. Anybody else hear this?
Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."
"Music is powerful, it's a drug that makes your inhibitions go away and leaves your vulnerabilities exposed" - KC
I read somewhere that Christina Aguilera's new album would be released in January 2010. Then I read that was false and the new album will be out in September as planned. So who knows?

It does make sense to go with 2010, with the movie coming out. It'll be hard for her to do much promoting if they stay with the Sept. date, but, I guess we'll see.

I was going to make a thread about this album. But, I was waiting until I got the name of the title. I hear the album is due out the same day as Whitney Houston's, September 1, 2009. I hear the new single is due out in July.
Classof2006 -- I'm not going to "rip" off musicluva123's head. He/She is entitled to his/her opinion. I'm trying to refrain from negativity on this board.
I also loved "Keeps Gettin' Better." I'm so excited that Christina Aguilera is working with Linda Perry again as well as Tricky Stewart, Sia and Goldfrapp.
I liked Keeps Getting Better too. I'm looking forward to hearing new material by her.On the same day as Whitney huh.Hope it's a good day for both ladies.
Im a great fan of Christina Aguilera, but I think this is not the rigth moment to launch a new Cd with all the futuristic experiement it gonna have.
Now there is Mariah,Shakira and Whitney with new music, Britney , Beyonce and Pink are still doing well in many parts of the world, and the not still very known woman who was compared with last year at the MTV Awards ( Lady Gaga) is now in the top of the world and of course comparisons will begin again.
She will start filming BURLESQUE in November so I think that will distract the album promotion. And the vibe of this musical will be cabaret style very "Back to Basics" and maybe that will affect her mood during this "electro futuristic era" ( a la "Tell me" with Diddy during B2B promotion).
I hope she does well , whatever happens

It might be a good idea for Xtina to push her album back. With Mariah and Whitney releasing albums at the same time, it might be possible for Xtina to get lost in the mix. If anything, she should release the album during the Xmas season.
Christina waits too long in between to release an album. I think its fine that she releases this September. She needs to capitalize on 4th Quarter sales.
If Christina does release her album in September, then she should release it in the middle part or end of the month. I think three respected divas releasing music in the same exact time period might clash.
