I know we've probably discussed this before, but who are some artists that you just flat out didn't like at first? Or maybe they were just "okay" to you, but after awhile they grew on you and you actually became a fan?
For me, Ginuwine, Kelly Clarkson, and Trey Songz immediately come to mind. I didn't care for Kelly or Trey at first, but when they dropped their sophomore albums, that's when I became a fan of theirs.
I've always liked Ginuwine's singles, but otherwise, I didn't really care for him too much. Now, I've collected the majority of his albums.
The-Dream and Rihanna are other artists that I never cared for when they first came out. They had a few singles that I liked, but I never thought I'd actually purchase their albums. Now, I own their latest efforts. Ironically, I wasn't a big Chris Brown fan either. I'm still not, but I at least like his music now and have both of his albums.
And I still have a love-hate relationship with Ciara's music. I didn't like her when she first came out, even though she had some banger singles. I kinda have an on-again-off-again liking of her music.

That I remember, Beyonce. I really thought she was all over the place and overrated and I still don't care much for "Crazy In Love". But when she put out "Irreplaceable", boy, I became a fan of that song and of Beyonce's as well and I learned to appreciate her performing skills, which are superb. I even ended up loving "Ring The Alarm" (That's my jam!).
With the rest, I may like one or two songs but not the whole body of work, like Kelly Clarkson, for example. I have to say, though, that I do love Kelly's voice.

I know there's more but right now I can think of Justin Timberlake, and Kelly Clarkson. I wasn't into her during idol or her first cd but I love Kelly Clarkson now.Everytime I see her live I'm more and more impressed.I love a singer who can project their emotions and she does it well.

Trey Songz,I couldnt stand him when he first came out but when his second album dropped I fell in love with him! (No homo)
T.I., wasnt a fan of his music until "Urban Legend".
Beyonce, I loved "Dangerously In Love" but I wasnt a huge fan until I saw her perform at the 2004 Grammy Awards!
Believe it or not I wasnt a big Ashanti fan until "Chapter 2". I thought she was cool in her debut year but I just didnt like her too much. Now Im her biggest fan.
Keyshia Cole, I thought she was a "Mary Clone" and I really couldnt stand her attitude but when "Let It Go" dropped I stanned for her hard.
Justin Timberlake, when they announced that he would be dropping his first solo album I said to myself "What straight guy would buy an album from someone who used to be in a boy band called N'Sync?lol Oddly enough when I first heard "Cry Me A River" on the radio I loved it but I thought it was Craig David or something but when the announcer said it was Justin my jaw dropped. I listened to his album online and LOVED it.

There are a bunch of people that I like now that I didn’t earlier on:
Alanis Morissette; I actually hated her when she was on top, and I loathed “Hand In My Pocket” but with her second album I started to like her and her material more.
Mariah Carey; though I’m undoubtedly titled a “fanboy” of hers, I actually hated her until about 1995. My sister was the big fan in the family, so I always knew of her, but it wasn’t until “Fantasy” and her dive into hip hop that I really started to take note of her.
U2; hated them initially, to be honest, but their music definitely grew on me, especially when “Beautiful Day” came out – still not the hugest fan, but at least I now appreciate some of their older stuff.
Rihanna; her first two albums were uninspiring, though I liked cuts from both; GGGB is one of my favorite pop albums, probably ever, and I’m not ashamed to admit that.
The-Dream; I HATED “Shawty is a 10….” but loved “Falsetto”, discovered the album, and the rest is gravy.
Others:
Maroon 5 Sheryl Crow Justin Timberlake John Mayer (hated to liked to hated again)
I am SO ashamed to admit this, but I can't lie about it. It took me six years to get into my most favorite singer, James Otto. (burying my head in shame)
His earlier songs on the radio were first released in 2002, but they did not get played enough back in them days unfortunately. I truly believe though that if James had been given more time on the radio back then, I would have gotten into him a whole lot sooner, I love him so much!!! (big smile)
God bless you and him always!!!

I couldn't stand T.I. During the Flip/T.I. feud, I preferred Lil' Flip for some strange reason, then I listened to T.I.'s albums and became a fan of his. Now, I cannot stand Flip and I really dig T.I.

Britney spears comes to mind, she first came out all innocent and bubble gummy i wanted to push her off the cliff...And then Slave 4 u came out and i became partial to her, and then In the zone came out and i became a full fan and when she went through her crazy spell i loved her more cuz she wasn't innocent anymore and was flawed
Also Brandy, when she first came out i liked some of her music but she annoyed me plus i was more a monica fani disliked her but now i'm discovering her voice and music is much better than i gave her credit for..
Madonna, Mariah Carey and Mary J blige, i didn't see the hype with either of them until Confessions, Emancipation, and Breakthrough respectively, mainly because i was a Whitney fan
