Got this idea from the ROTY thread. It's the same thing. Just rank the artists in each lineup from 2000-2008 in order from best to worst. Mine are listed below.
Winners in red.
2000 - I liked this lineup a lot, but there was really only one right way to go, and they got it right. 1. Christina Aguilera 2. Macy Gray 3. Kid Rock 4. Britney Spears 5. Susan Tedeschi
2001 - Not a bad lineup at all, but they went with the worst nominee. Jill Scott was robbed. 1. Jill Scott 2. Brad Paisley 3. Sisqó 4. Papa Roach 5. Shelby Lynne
2002 - One of the decade's strongest lineups. Clearly, they went with the right winner. I had the worst time ranking these. 1. Alicia Keys 2. India.Arie 3. Nelly Furtado 4. Linkin Park 5. David Gray
2003 - Once again, NARAS turned out a fantastic list of nominees this year. I would've picked a different winner, though. I had a tough time ranking these. 1. John Mayer 2. Michelle Branch 3. Ashanti 4. Norah Jones 5. Avril Lavigne
2004 - Yet another strong year. 1. Evanescence 2. Heather Headley 3. 50 Cent 4. Sean Paul 5. Fountains of Wayne
2005 - Not a bad nominee in the entire lineup, but I think they picked the wrong winner. I had a tough time ranking these. 1. Kanye West 2. Joss Stone 3. Maroon 5 4. Gretchen Wilson 5. Los Lonely Boys
2006 - This was a pretty lackluster year. Outside of my top three, I just stop caring. Thankfully, they picked the right winner. 1. John Legend 2. Sugarland 3. Ciara 4. Keane 5. Fall Out Boy
2007 - This was an alright year. I wasn't totally blown away by the nominees, but they definitely nailed the right winner. 1. Carrie Underwood 2. Chris Brown 3. Corinne Bailey Rae 4. James Blunt 5. Imogen Heap
2008 - Yet another alright year. I stop caring after the first two, but I would've picked a different winner. 1. Ledisi 2. Amy Winehouse 3. Feist 4. Paramore 5. Taylor Swift

2000 1. Christina Aguilera 2. Britney Spears 3. Susan Tedeschi 4. Kid Rock 5. Macy Gray (Not a fan of this year. The Academy chose well.)
2001 1. Brad Paisley 2. Shelby Lynne 3. Jill Scott 4. Papa Roach 5. Sisqo (Paisley has shown great success over the past few years. Lynne and Scott were also good.)
2002 1. Nelly Furtado 2. India.Arie 3. Alicia Keys 4. Linkin Park 5. David Gray (Better than '00 and '01. I would have been fine with any of them winning except Gray.)
2003 1. Michelle Branch 2. John Mayer 3. Norah Jones 4. Avril Lavigne 5. Ashanti (Not bad at all. Any of them but Ashanti would have been fine with me. I actually think this is the best year of the decade so far.)
2004 1. Evanescence 2. Heather Headley 3. Fountains of Wayne 4. Sean Paul 5. 50 Cent (Horrible year. I'm not crazy about any of the five.)
2005 1. Maroon 5 2. Gretchen Wilson 3. Kanye West 4. Joss Stone 5. Los Lonely Boys (This line-up is okay. I'm happy Maroon 5 won.)
2006 1. Sugarland 2. Keane 3. John Legend 4. Ciara 5. Fall Out Boy (I would have preferred to see Sugarland or Keane, but Legend isn't as offensive as a Ciara or Fall Out Boy win.)
2007 1. Carrie Underwood 2. Corinne Bailey Rae 3. James Blunt 4. Chris Brown 5. Imogen Heap (Lackluster line-up. Underwood was an excellent decision.)
2008 1. Amy Winehouse 2. Taylor Swift 3. Feist 4. Paramore 5. Ledisi (Swift peaked at the wrong time. She could have been a contender. Winehouse was deserving based on Back to Black.)
2000 1.Britney Spears 2.Christina Aguilera - she really deserved the win though when you look at it in the long run 3.Kid Rock 4.Macy Gray 5.Susan Tedeschi
2001 1.Jill Scott 2.Sisqo 3.Brad Paisley 4.Papa Roach 5.Shelby Lynne
2002 1.Alicia Keys 2.Nelly Furtado 3.India.Arie 4.Linkin Park 5.David Gray
2003 1.John Mayer 2.Avril Lavigne 3.Michelle Branch 4.Ashanti 5.Norah Jones - I just cannot stand her music
2004 1.Evanescence 2.50 Cent 3.Sean Paul 4.Heather Headley 5.Fountains of Wayne
2005 1.Maroon 5 2.Kanye West 3.Joss Stone 4.Gretchen Wilson 5.Los Lonely Boys
2006 1.Ciara - I loved all her singles when she first came out, she had hit after hit so I wouldn't have minded if she had won and upset Legend 2.John Legend 3.Fall Out Boy 4.Sugarland 5.Keane
2007 1.Carrie Underwood 2.Corinne Bailey Rae 3.Chris Brown 4.Imogen Heap 5.James Blunt
2008 1.Amy Winehouse - no real competition for her, she was undoubtedly the best new artist this year 2.Feist 3.Paramore 4.Taylor Swift 5.Ledisi
2000 - Pretty strong lineup. 1. Christina Aguilera (She deserved a win.) 2. Britney Spears (she would've been deserving, but it was CHRISTINA'S!) 3. Kid Rock 4. Macy Gray 5. Susan Tedeschi
2001 - Not such a strong year. Seriously, NO WAY. 1. Jill Scott 2. Brad Paisley 3. Papa Roach (interchangeable with Sisqó, I feel.) 4. Sisqó 5. Shelby Lynne
2002 - VERY VERY strong year, I feel. 1. Alicia Keys (I really think interchangeable with Linkin Park, since I'm a huge fan. But I'm happy with Alicia winning.) 2. Linkin Park 3. Nelly Furtado 4. India.Arie 5. David Gray
2003 - Another strong year! Tough one. 1. Norah Jones (I think it was the right decision. Though Avril or Ashanti winning would've been fine by me.) 2. Avril Lavigne 3. Ashanti 4. John Mayer (RIGHT NOW, I'd rank him #1 or 2, but at the time, I felt it was way too competitive.) 5. Michelle Branch
2004 - Another strong year. 1. 50 Cent (He had the best year in general, let alone, as a new artist. I think NARAS shoulda chosen him, but I am still happy Evanescence won, they are one of my favorites.) 2. Evanescence (I am SO happy they won and all, but at the time, I felt 50 Cent DID get sorta snubbed. Still, I'm happy they won. Honestly.) 3. Sean Paul 4. Heather Headley 5. Fountains of Wayne
2005 - Overall, a pretty strong year. 1. Kanye West (HE SOOOOOO deserved a win here, sorry Maroon 5. I will never get over why he didn't win. NEVER. This also proved NARAS had issues with Hip-Hop music.) 2. Maroon 5 3. Joss Stone 4. Gretchen Wilson 5. Los Lonely Boys
2006 - Alright year. 1. John Legend 2. Sugarland 3. Ciara 4. Keane 5. Fall Out Boy
2007 - Again, overall alright year. But some strong contenders. 1. Carrie Underwood 2. Chris Brown 3. James Blunt 4. Corinne Bailey Rae 5. Imogen Heap
2008 - Kind of a weak year, minus a few nominees. Anyway, here are my rankings. 1. Amy Winehouse 2. Feist 3. Paramore 4. Taylor Swift 5. Ledisi

It's funny cause I see alot of people disagree with Norah Jones winning in 2003.I see John Mayer's name alot and he really did deserve to win.Norah's music is just to boring.
In 2000,you have the 2 most popular Pop divas this decade, and any one of them could have won and it would have been okay with me.At the time I chose Britney because she had a better year but in the long run Christina has stood the test of time.
1. Jill Scott 2. Shelby Lynne 3. Brad Paisley 4. Papa Roach 5. Sisqo
Comments: At the time, I would have picked Jill Scott here just for being a breath of fresh air of sorts with her sound, but I've changed my mind on Shelby Lynne. I didn't follow her work the year that she was nominated to know what kind of impact she had on the industry at the time, and it irked me that she was no "new" artist in any sense of the word. But she's a very talented and substantive artist still, so the award wasn't wasted on her, even though she hasn't been able to strike well with the Grammys post-win, and Jill Scott has maintained since this loss. Brad Paisley's respectable; Papa Roach I remember had that "Last Resort" song that I liked; Sisqo . . . ugh.
2001
1. India.Arie 2. Alicia Keys 3. Nelly Furtado 4. David Gray 5. Linkin Park
Comments: I won't use the hindsight rule for this year, b/c if I did, the choice of Alicia Keys would have been the only real choice, but judging by this year, it was India.Arie that made the superior album effort, and who knows what a 5x-winning reception for India's work would have done for her career now. I liked this category at the time a lot, and I still do. No duds in the lineup with all of the nominees appealing to their particular fanbases. David Gray in particular was an astute choice at the time to make, and I'm glad he at least had a Grammy spotlight for a brief time.
2002
1. John Mayer 2. Norah Jones 3. Avril Lavigne 4. Michelle Branch 5. Ashanti
Comments: I think I was going for John Mayer mainly b/c this category rarely rewards solo men over solo ladies, and his music spoke to me in a way that none of the other nominees did (and still does). I guess I don't mind Norah Jones's win here -- it was so inevitable, and she did have a very notable debut. I wouldn't have voted her for all of those Grammys though, especially Album of the Year. I can't deny Avril's strong "Complicated" punch. Michelle Branch making it in over Vanessa Carlton was especially screwy. I wasn't impressed at the time with Ashanti or "Foolish" and the Biggie piggy-backing.
2003
1. Heather Headley 2. Evanescence 3. 50 Cent 4. Fountains of Wayne 5. Sean Paul
Comments: I didn't like this roster too much. Vocally, Heather Headley towered above the competition, and I thought she had a chance for awhile if her Braodway background would help her out, the urban vote splitting between 50 Cent and Sean Paul, Fountains of Wayne not being new and riding that "Stacy's Mom" wave, and Evanescence being a rock-goth band (though the tip-off should have been "Fallen" big sales success and making it into AOTY and not "Get Rich or Die Tryin'"). I like Amy Lee in general though, so it's not a horrible win, just a bit underwhelming.
2004
1. Kanye West 2. Joss Stone 3. Maroon 5 4. Los Lonely Boys 5. Gretchen Wilson
Comments: I thought that 10 nominations would at least get Kanye West this win for the stellar debut he had with "The College Dropout", and if any solo rapper would ever win this category, he'd be the one to do it. It felt like a copout, and it still does, that voters opted for Maroon 5 instead. Regardless of the success they've had post-win, that year was Kanye's, and here would have been a great general field win for him. Joss Stone's great, though I wish she had more widespread success in the states. The only way I was familiar with Los Lonely Boys and Gretchen Wilson was through "Heaven" and "Redneck Woman", respectively, so I ranked those by how I liked those songs in general at the time.
2005
1. John Legend 2. Keane 3. Ciara 4. Sugarland 5. Fall Out Boy
Comments: This category was all about John Legend once "Ordinary People" surfaced for him. I loved that he managed to win out here, though it wasn't hard to do in this field. Keane's awesome, and more people should listen to their work. Their debut was far stronger than Ciara's, who rode her singles success here more than anything. I would have had Fantasia in her slot instead. I didn't listen to Sugarland at the time, but I've grown to like Jennifer Nettles a good bit since then. Fall Out Boy was the WTF nominee that started a trend of sorts later on, but I did like "Sugar, We're Going Down" at least.
2006
1. James Blunt 2. Corinne Bailey Rae 3. Imogen Heap 4. Carrie Underwood 5. Chris Brown
Comments: I thought that "Back to Bedlam" was a great album, and I loved "You're Beautiful" from the first time I heard it. He would have been my pick, whether he's the best hindsight choice or not. I dig Corinne Bailey Rae's overall vibe -- there's a simplicity and incisiveness to her work that's captivating to me. Imogen Heap might be the supreme WTF nominee, but she brought something refreshing to the lineup, even though she's not nearly a new artist. "Hide & Seek"'s amazing. I found Carrie Underwood dull and uninteresting at the time, and while that view has slightly changed, she wouldn't have been near my pick here. I would have picked Ne-Yo instead of Chris Brown.
2007
1. Amy Winehouse 2. Ledisl 3. Feist 4. Taylor Swift 5. Paramore
Comments: It's unfortunate that Daughtry wasn't included in this lineup. I don't think anything would have stopped Amy Winehouse from winning here, nor should it have in the Year of the Wino, but their omission is glaring considering the year they had. I've since heard Ledisi's album, and it's a great one, so I don't begrudge her a nomination no matter how oddball it was. Feist has some solid songs, but she's uneven and doesn't do it for me in general. Taylor Swift is so . . . meh. I'm glad that she's struck a chord with young girls with her music, but so many of her songs are so blah and simple. I've come to love "Misery Business", but Paramore shouldn't have been here over Daughtry.

No, I didn't. I don't go by the year the ceremony was held, and neither does the Grammy web site.
