Jan. '10: ??? Feb. '09: Robert Plant & Alison Krauss Feb. '08: Amy Winehouse Feb. '07: Dixie Chicks Feb. '06: U2 Feb. '05: Ray Charles Feb. '04: Beyoncé Feb. '03: Norah Jones Feb. '02: Alicia Keys
Every year since 2002, someone has won five trophies in a single night, qualifying them as the night's biggest winner by sweeping the Grammys.
Who will do it this year? I'm assuming that the sweep will be made by one of the following artists:
U2 Maxwell Bruce Springsteen Green Day Bob Dylan
The only females with enough hype to sweep are Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, but I don't think either one will be able to pull it off. So I think one of the artists/acts above is gonna do it.
He doesn't have the buzz that he's had with his previous albums to take AOTY, even though he's probably a lock for a nomination given his history in the general field.
He has no shot at taking Rap/Sung again this year. There's nothing for him to win in the R&B field or the pop field. He'll probably win Rap Group for "Amazing" and possibly Rap Solo.
The problem with this album is that no one knows where it's gonna go. I don't see him winning 5 Grammys for this album, though I do think he can see 2-3 wins.
Grammy 2010: Album of the Year -- Whitney Houston - I Look to You Oscar 2010: Best Actress In a Leading Role -- Marion Cotillard - 9 Emmy 2010: Guest Actress in a Comedy Series -- Catherine O'Hara - Curb Your Enthusiasm

Kanye has a very good chance at taking Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Knock You Down" with Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo. I think he has a better chance at winning Rap Group for "Make Her Say" than "Amazing." He has won this category before with Common and Kid Cudi is one of the biggest breakout Hip Hop artists of the year.
Maxwell has an excellent chance at getting a few wins in the R&B field (Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Album), and those wins would be extremely deserving.
I'm not sure who will sweep or win the most awards. It depends on the nominations.
In all honesty, it doesn't seem like anyone is going to sweep this year (or at least they don't deserve to). However, the fact that someone has swept for the past 8 or so years indicates that it could happen again. Unfortunately, the only one I can think of that NARAS would allow to do this is U2.
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kanye West for "Heartless" and 808's & Heartbreak Adele for "Hometown Glory" Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" & Fearless Maxwell for "Pretty Wings" & BLACKsummer'snight Kings of Leon for "Use Somebody" The Cast of GLEE for "Don't Stop Believin' " Mariah Carey for "Obsessed"

Whitney Houston is not winning five Grammys.
Never say never. Anything is possible with the Grammy Awards.
Well, you can use that same logic for Maxwell as well.
And for Heidi Montag and whoever submitts. It's a silly assumption.
I'm sorry I love Whitney and all but her chaces are being hyped way too much. If it's sucessful then maybe she can win a couple. Mariah could only get a measly 3 Grammys after the Helluva Year in 2005.

Whitney won't win five Grammys. She will only be eligible for a few. She can win one or two. Now, that's a possibility. The only way Whitney would win five Grammys is if she win one or two this season and a few more for her album next season. She might be able to pull an "Alicia/As I Am."

I think Whitney will recieve at least 3 nominations but she wont win any of them. The eligibilty period ends soon and her new single hasnt even made an impact yet. Granted they could give her a win just for her "comeback" but if we want to be real, Mariah Carey had a comeback! "We Belong Together" was # for 14 weeks, her album sold 9 Million Worldwide and she won 3 Grammys. Whitney will have to either match or succeed that feat and I just dont see her doing that. The fact that she hasnt even been nominated for a Grammy since 2000 says alot too.

Whitney has her name and a huge label backing her. As long as she maintains her buzz up until December, she'll be good.
Stop comparing Whitney and Mariah. This is a different era. Mariah's comeback was way back in 2005 when sales were in a better state. She had a whole Grammy eligibility to make an impact, which she did. Whitney will only have a month or so of eligible material. She will either benefit from it or not. If I'm not mistaken, Whitney was a bigger Grammy favorite than Mariah. So, you can't really compare their Grammy chances, which were in two different periods of time.
And Whitney hasn't had eligible material since like 2003, so that crosses out that last statement.
