And I TOTALLY agree with you about Madonna...she is not as creative and artistic as people make her out to be. And talk about someone not acting her age...Madonna is 50 and on her latest album is dressed like a dominatrix licking a lollipop....please. Again, even she is going the pop/hip-hop route to stay relevant...what do you call working with JT??
i wasn't trying to disrespect madonna. i just don't see why she is credited as being so diverse and the "antithesis" of mariah when madonna hasn't been that much more diverse. people act like mariah has made one kind of song her whole career and nothing else.
her new sound is obviously an attempt to regain her relevance, but i ain't mad at her for it. she and her fans just better not criticize anyone else for trying to stay relevant. i think it's interesting madonna worked with timbaland for her album but mariah did not, yet mariah is the one being criticized for trying to appeal to the current market. did madonna really put out to that many people, and was she that good? i aint mad at her.

For as long as I can remember, they've had this thing about the the threads not exceeding over 500 posts. So, i'm programmed to start one over if it reaches, and i'm the one who started it. lol
Don't make me go there about the Madonna comparison. I think she's given waaaaaaaaay to much credit for re-creating herself time and time again. Not only that, she's now kinda squelched that democracy by hooking up with a trio of the hottest hip-hop/r & b producers in the business, not to mention one of the biggest pop stars for her new offering. Is there anything wrong with that? Hell naw! But don't run that she's inventive game with me if she's resorting to that.
Hey magnifico or should I say magnificent?

Have there been any early projected numbers for first week release numbers?
There's just a bevy of promotion for MC's new one and everybody's expected gigantic numbers.
Just a reminder...
Britney Spears sold 1.3 million of Oops! I Did It Again back in 2000 during its first week of release.
Norah Jones sold 1.1 million of Feels Like Home back in 2004.
And just last year, Alicia Keys sold 742,000 copies of As I Am in its first week.
Right behind Alicia is Mary J. Blige whose Breakthrough sold 727,000 copies in its first week.
Strangely, no female solo artist has ever sold 800,000+ or 900,000+ in their first week of release.
A handful of female artists (Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Destiny's Child, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Ashanti) have sold 500,000+ and 600,000+ in their first week.
So which category will Mariah fall in? I think the Oprah and American Idol promotion is icing on the cake and should surely push her at least into the 500,000 range.
Hitsdailydouble is predicting 500-600K, which to say is a surprise. I thought she'd be selling more.
I wonder if they are figuring in the impact her Idol appearance could have?
Regardless, this will be Mariah's biggest opening week ever. And she always tend to sell a lot over time instead of opening big and fading off like some.
I get so O.O.C. And that just the way it be!

Are they usually that right on the money to be able to assess sales totals after one day?

Her estimate of 500-600K was only based on first day sales. The figures take into consideration the Oprah effect, but not the Idol effect. Part 1 was last night, and Part 2 will be tonight when she performs. Also, she has the BET Special tonight -- another key demographic!
It's hard for me to fathom that she's gonna sell less that 600K of this album in the first week.
So much fun driving around on this beautiful Jersey afternoon with the windows down and E=MC2 blaring on the stereo! The joy in Mariah's voice on this CD is absolutely infectious, especially on I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time. Numbers, sales, status, records - whatever. This music is just so damn enjoyable.
I'll rank my favorite songs on E=MC^2. I've listened to it enough by now. This is just personal preference, not what I think is the best, technically.
1. Side Effects 2. I Wish You Well 3. Cruise Control 4. Migrate 5. I'll Be Lovin U Long Time 6. Thanks 4 Nothin 7. I'm That Chick 8. Bye Bye 9. Touch My Body 10. I Stay In Love 11. O.O.C. 12. Love Story 13. For The Record 14. Last Kiss
