Anyway Musicluva is right this is not the end for Ashanti. Plenty of Artists have bounced back from far worse. She WILL find a label that wants to sign her so she doesn't have to worry about that. And yes her last album flopped but it was one of her most critically acclaimed albums and people said that her voice has gotten alot better. Growing as an artist is way more important than selling records,IMO! So you all can make fun of her if you want but she's still making money and she just keeps getting better and better!

For the record, you said we could make fun of Sequoya if we wanted, so here I am:

Yes, so I won't say what I really think but If you insist, I'll say the truth, Ashanti's carer is over, If The Inc (Where she was the one of leading artists, if not the leading artist) dropped her then who the hell would want to pick her up? Specially with the music industry this low. The Broadway show is an oportunity so she won't be broke and they can't find anyone else willing to do it, I'm just waiting untill she's on a reality TV show like "Dancing With The Stars", "The Apprentice" or hosting "106 and Park".
This is just too fun to let go. And much funnier than the sarcasm of Ashanti getting VIP treatment at Def Jam. I just gotta say that if T-Boz, member of TLC, one of the most ICONIC groups in the history of R&B, did "The Apprentice, I can definitely see Ashanti doing "Dancing With The Stars".
Having said that, this is my last attempt to keep an Ashanti thread on top on the Grammy forum. She's not relevant in the real world, I don't see why she gotta be relevant here.

Rules on Goldderby: Must hate Ashanti or anything dealing with her!

Man you guys really dislike this girl! It seems like everyone is against her and rooting for her to fail.
I don't dislike her. I like some of her old songs and some of the songs on the last album.
I think if she posed for Playboy her career would actually be much bigger than what it currently is which is NOTHING.
I would hope she wouldnt do that.Ashanti has way more class than that. And her music career may be nothing but she's about to go on Broadway so her career as an Entertainer is FAR from over. And like I said earlier maybe Ashanti can't sell records anymore but with the release of "The Declaration" she got more critical acclaim than she's EVER recieved and that's what an artist is supposed to do. She's grown as an artist so even if she doesn't sell another record she'll MOST LIKELY be taken serious as an artist, which is MUCH more important!

Its hard for me to take her seriously. After her first album, things went downhill. Each album got worse and worse. And even though this last one got better reviews, it wasn't stellar. I guess Broadway is a good route to go, but that doesn't mean that her career is on the rise again. Many artists have taken on Broadway and recieved negative/terrible reviews...I'm not saying that she'll flop...hopefully she'll do well. But I wouldn't say that her career is back on the rise...she aaint no FANTASIA, haha...
Speaking of Fantasia, I need to catch one of her upcoming "Color Purple" shows...now THATS a show I want to see, haha...

Classof2006 -- You keep on reppin' Ashanti. If she's your girl, then that's all that matters.
Just curious, what was the metacritic score of The Declaration?
Yeah she must be doing something right to have a "Part 2" thread! Thanks Gucci! I think "The Declaration" got a 60 something but I'm not sure. I know her other reviews were pretty good though.

That's cool. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I think she gets better and better. I think when she released "The Way That I Love You" people started noticting her vocal capabilities, I'm not saying she's great but when people still compare her to Rihanna,Ciara and Britney it baffles me. She's a much better vocalist than those 3. And I think she will do well on Broadway. She has a nice voice and she got some pretty good reviews for "Defying Gravity"!

No not really. Just that she is tied with Rihanna for second place with Most Top 10 hits by a female artist this decade with 10. Beyonce leads with 12!
