We all know the popular predictions, but I want to know the hunches some of you may have in terms of some shocking/out of nowhere nominees that might show up - particularly the General Field, but not exclusive to that.
There always seems to be a few head-scratchers or maybe some tracks/albums/artists that you wouldn't think would show up in the nominations in as big of a way that it did.
So, let's hear 'em. No idea is too crazy - I guess that's sort of the point.

Here's a really dark horse. Lady Gaga for SOTY for Paparazzi, you all know I've been saying that since I joined this board.
For Best pop group, Parachute. They opened for Kelly Clarkson (I believe) and their single is doing okay on the AC charts. I have a hunch they will show up. Maybe even in BNA.
Also, Owl city and Matt & Kim has been getting a lot of buzz.

I love Parachute!! Awesome group of guys. Glad someone else knows who they are haha.
Thumbs up to the Matt Nathanson pick too, Richter! I can see Pop Male happening.

I expect "My Girls" by Animal Collective to top many year end "best single" lists, so maybe the Grammy's will take notice and give them a "record of the year" nomination.

While I wouldn't mind Animal Collective in Record of the Year, I really don't think they're the type of bands that the voters vote for. I mean if they're going to do another M.I.A. nod, they might as well do something that's a bit more popular and catchy. (don't get me wrong I'm not putting down AC I like them)

Would love this! Although after last year's Vampire Weekend and MGMT snubs, I am doubtful the Grammy's will ever nominate an alternative band that isn't The White Stripes or Radiohead.

I feel like "Blind" had to be eligible last year, but I'm not sure.
I'd love for something by La Roux and Little Boots to be nominated in Dance Recording.
I think the Yeah Yeah Yeah's deserve more than their usual Alternative album nod. They really should be up for AOTY, best and best pop or rock group for "Zero" or "Heads Will Roll". Hell and best video (although I can see that happening).
