- Of course many of these may be prerecorded but what are some of your favorites? Who did it best?

- Are you one of those people who feel the Nat'l Anthem should just be sung "regular"?

To start it off:

Whitney Houston (1995)@ 1:16

I can understand adding some excitement to it but when people scream it as if they were getting dragged up some stairs, that's just ridiculous. Nope Keep it classy with just a bit of excitement.

With that said, I love Josh Grobans.

A bit. She exagerated at the end, she could off off the run at the end a bit, but the beggining was great as well as the high note.

whitney houston's and marvin gaye's versions are in a completely different league than any other version. there's a reason why those versions are held to such high regards.

i loved when en vogue did it in the early 90s with their harmonies.

Jimmy Hendrix and his guitar 'sang' the National Anthem better than anyone else. Now there was a guy, who was in a class by himself.

Of course, I'm going to submit, you know who...

DoNNa SuMMer

It's nice, simple, and strong. No fancy vocalizing reqired.

I also like Josh Groban's version as well:

Whitney's version gets my vote for sounding more patriotic due to the music. Her vocals are dead on.
