I am so torn about this album. I think Jordin Sparks is great, and have always been a fan. But to me, this album is kind of a snoozer. I like probably 5 tracks, and the rest are mundane. I think SOS is actually going to be a good single choice. Think about the recent popuarity of recycled tracks from the past. Kristina Debarge's reuse of "Na na na hey hey goodbye", Flo Rida's reuse of "Blue" just to name a couple. I think SOS is radio candy.
It's no suprise her sales aren't great. Albums don't sell well in this day and age as it is. I think SOS will boost sales eventually, and it actually seems like "Battlefield" has "caught its second wind" after I thought it had peaked a couple of weeks ago.

I like SOS a lot, but am kind of annoyed that this is the 2nd song in the last 5 years to be called SOS and sample a song(the 1st being Rihannas SOS) from like 2 decades prior. Just irks me is all.

SOS is on the album as a single for sure and I think it will be a hit.
I don't think it will help album sales though, the type of people who would like SOS will just get it from Itunes. Something like WOS would be better to sell the album IMO. Still its in there for the long haul and she has plenty of potential singles to keep her in the spotlight and keep things ticking over.

"Battlefield" (the song) is probably one of my biggest guily pleasures right now. I can't believe how much I dig this tune. It's currently stuck in my head. IMO it's the catchiest thing released all summer.

Ouch!! It looks like Jordin's got a flop on her hands. The album is pretty decent and is packed with single material. The problem is Jordin waited too long to promote the album. Not many people know she's releasing this week. Jordin's debut album also debuted with unimpressive first week sales #'s too but went on to go Platinum so there's a chance she can turn this all around.

It's actually quite good. Much better than the Battlefield video. It's nice to have an upbeat song out by Ms. Sparks. Hopefully this will catch on at radio. She needs a big hit to boost those album sales.
Wow, she looks good in that video. I also heard this song at the gym yesterday. This sounds like a big winner. Wonder if it can help resurrect the album...
Grammy FYC: Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak; Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.; John Legend, Evolver; Paolo Nutini, Sunny Side Up; David Guetta, One Love; Kelly Clarkson, "Already Gone"; Jordin Sparks, "Battlefield"; Kings Of Leon, "Use Somebody"; Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
What happened to "S.O.S."? Is it just a massive bomb? Doesn't make sense since it's catchy, it's following up the hit "Battlefield", and it's a hot video.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm shocked radio hasn't jumped all over this.
Blender Magazine on Kelly Clarkson: " The Texas native has one of the great voices in pop music, a powerful and versatile instrument that’s steeped in the rhythm and blues and country music she grew up with in the South. If Mariah Carey’s five-octave voice is the equivalent of an expensively bred poodle, then Clarkson’s is a bloodhound: friendly, earthy, but fierce just the same."
Baltimore Examiner (concert review): "Her sultry voice is absolutely flawless. The tone and range floors you. When she belts out a note, it's precise yet powerful."
"Music is powerful, it's a drug that makes your inhibitions go away and leaves your vulnerabilities exposed" - KC
I didn't like "SOS" at first but it has grown on me. IMO "Battlefield" should have been a bigger hit than it was. Jordin has a lot of single potential on this album.

S.O.S. is just a very mediocre song. It'll probably be a moderate hit, but I think this album is a flop. The material just isn't great, despite that ridiculous A- review from EW.
