what is this from? is this one of the songs she's worked on for her next album with jam and lewis? sounds like classic janet.i really like it. i can see her in a vid for this track. i love her dance vid's the best.
It's definitely from the new sessions but I doubt it's going to be the first single. I think it's just a teaser/gift for her fans. There's even a little nod to Michael in there: "Don't stop till you get it up." Haha.

I completely dislike this. Doing a throwback style is fine, but you gotta be able to add to it, give it a personal touch or comtemporary flare, and I don't think Janet does that. It just sounds like a MJ track and it just ends up sounding dated.
I personally love Janet when she does slow R&B -- especially when she gets all sexual. I think she's too old to do upbeat pop stuff, which is a damn shame because, in her day, she owned this kind of stuff. But now, with the likes of Rihanna, Britney, Gaga, Beyonce, etc. holding this down for this generation, where does that leave someone like Janet? I'd say she go to an R&B route. Songs like "That's The Way Love Goes", "I Get So Lonely", and "Got Til It's Gone" are some of my absolute favorite Janet tracks. I'd like her to do more of these.

That is very Michael-esque. I think the song's great. That would be a strong album track, and if that's the direction of the new album, this could be the beginning of her comeback. It's sad what it takes to get audiences to re-evaluate Janet and her work again, but this is a promising teaser at least.

This does sound a lot like Michael's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," and that's not a bad thing. I've always been a fan of Janet's, and I hate that her last three CDs have not taken off like they could have, but I hear that Janet's gone back to her original team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and if y ou combine that with Rodney Jerkins, I think Janet could be back in control with her new CD next year. "Make Me" is a great teaser song and classic Janet, and I hope to hear more from her like these. She's also at her best with slow ballads like "Again," "That's the Way Love Goes," and "I Get Lonely."

Yeah, the song is definitely missing something. "Feedback" grabbed me right away. I liked the first 30 seconds of this, but the hook didn't pop like it should have. I agree with you that the midtempo stuff she did in the 90s was great, especially the songs you mentioned, but the sex stuff is getting really old and the slow jams she's done in the last few years have been pretty bad (remember "Call Me"? I didn't think so). Her dance stuff has been better, even if it's not up to the standard of her 80s and 90s stuff. I just don't see her doing well with slow stuff today. She's pretty much washed up on Top 40 radio, which means she needs to focus on her club/dance/gay audience by doing more dance stuff if she wants to maintain any kind of career. Reteaming with Jam & Lewis is a good start, but they need to recapture some of their 80s spirit - it's not all Janet's fault. They really created her sound.

It took me a while to get used to the song but now I like it which is weird since I always enjoy Janet's songs. It has a nice old school groove. Hopefully the other new songs will hook me right in.
The truth is, what Janet does best is now a dead act. She can't do what made her famous because she's not young anymore and we're almost two decades passed the styles that made her famous. The new generation of music-listeners have no real attachment to her and her music. Sure, she can try to compete with the Beyonce's, but they're just going to blow her out of the water. It's just not her generation anymore to do that kind of stuff and be successful.
The popular audience will abandon her. The gay demographic and the black demographic will be her only chances now, in my opinion. If she does R&B, I think she has a chance because a lot of black people grew up on Michael/Janet and so there is some resonance there; and urban radio will certainly give her a shot if it's R&B. If she makes ultra-poppy club music, then she'll have life in the gay scene.

^ I agree. That's what I was saying. But I think she has a better chance doing dance music because the gay/club audience will ALWAYS embrace her if the tracks are hot. But R&B is more mainstream and a lot trickier. Look at "Call on Me." It was only a minor hit for her.
