Parker Posey, below, may be a one-woman dynamo capable of several projects at once, but even she isn’t powerful enough to overcome Lyme disease. In a statement on Wednesday, Playwrights Horizons said that Ms. Posey, a star of films like “Best in Show” and “Waiting for Guffman,” had withdrawn from the company’s coming production of “This,” a new comedy planned for its 2009-10 season. The statement said Ms. Posey would not be able to take part “due to developing a case of Lyme disease.” Playwrights Horizons said that it was still planning to begin previews of the show at its mainstage theater on Nov. 6 and open the production on Dec. 2, and that it would announce a replacement for Ms. Posey shortly.
