Best Sound Design of a Play:

Gregory Clarke - Equus

Best Sound Design of a Musical:

Paul Arditti - Billy Elliot, The Musical

By the way, Laura Benanti gave a great shout out to Patti LuPone reaction to sounds in the 4th row of Gypsy. LOL

I was kind of hoping for an upset in Book. Next to Normal was sort of robbed. But Billy Elliot was superb, too, so I can't quibble too much.

BE is still on track to break the Producers' record of 13 Tonys, but it can't lose another category since it lost Costume Design.

Ugh...so Billy Elliot has already won 5 Tonys. I really hope it doesn't tie "The Producers" record for most Tony awards!

For Your Grammy Consideration:

Billy Elliot is not going to tie the record. It won't get both supporting awards, and it's not winning score.

Yeah, 60 Minutes is re-airing the Dolly Parton interview. I just love her. I want to meet her. I have a friend that works in Nashville tangentially to the industry. Her dad wants her to meet Dolly and say this. "My dad likes you for 2 reasons...you are short and from Tennessee." lol My friend is short and her dad is from Tennessee :-)

OK, part 1 of the Tony Awards is over with. Y'all stay tuned for Part 2 in just a few minutes. Glad I was able to keep y'all up to date on the winners. I'm sure someone else will do it for the main show since more folks will be watching then.

I also don't think there's much chance of Billy tying the record now. Based on the tie for Orchestrations, I think Next to Normal probably wins score but Billy still takes Best Musical.

No design awards for Exit the King. It's not undeserved, I just thought it would take something.

I can live with the medley. Loving everyone doing Let the Sunshine In at the end though. Good way to bring in some energy. The crowd LOVED it, the ending at least. lol

"Let the Sunshine In" was worth it at the end I guess, but I didn't like the rest of the medley performance at all.

I don't know what scared me more on the opening, Stockard, Liza, or the sound engineer. LOL

That performance from "Mamma Mia" was a catastrophe!! One of the worst performances I have ever seen on the Tonys.

On a better note, I am so happy that Angela Lansbury can join the company of the luminous Julie Harris.

I loved Rock of Ages. It was some of the most entertainment fun I've ever had. I hate they couldn't do the whole song, but some would wonder why the guy was singing a line in Spanish. hahaha

Loved the quick shot of Will Swenson during the performance. He portrayed Stacee Jaxx off broadway, but then was cast in Hair.

I WANNA ROCK!!
