TELL ME I wasn't the only person to see this. What was happening was absolutely unmistakeable, this is not me blowing smoke out of your asses.
Oh, please. The kid was confused, that's all.

I was happy Alice Ripley won best actress since I had only heard great things about her BUT she came across as a total nutter in her speech.
If I was going to New York this summer, like I did the last two summers, "Next to Normal" would be on my to-see list but that number did not come across that great. I will say the actor playing Ripley's son is ridiculously handsome though.

His name is Aaron Tveit. Agreed, total babe.
And so are Gavin Creel, Will Swenson, et. al. from "Hair" and Matt Cavenaugh, Cody Green et. al. from "West Side Story" and...
Seriously, Broadway is like male babe-a-rama these days.

Ratings bump for the Tonycast this year (via MediaWeek):
"The 63rd Annual Tony Awards, hosted by How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, rose to 7.45 million viewers, with a 1.8 rating/5 share among adults 25-54 and a 1.3/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, according to the preliminary Nielsen live-plus-same-day ratings.
"Comparably, that was its best ratings since 2006, with growth from one year earlier (Viewers: 6.27 million; A25-54: 1.5/ 4; A18-49: 1.1/ 3 on June 15, 2008) of 1.18 million viewers, 20 percent in adults 25-54 and 18 percent in adults 18-49."

I'll agree on Gavin Creel. Will Swenson is a little too grizzly for me.

He'll be gone until September 6. Thank god he'll be back, Lord almighty he is a fox.
He's also playing James Franco's lover in the upcoming Alan Ginsberg biopic, Howl. Can't wait for that either.

He was yummy. Beautiful voice.
Sort of off-topic, but speaking of "Catch Me If You Can," a friend who is a superfan of cabaret performer Shoshana Bean sent this YouTube clip of her singing "Fly, Fly Away" from "Catch Me..." It's beautiful.
Hey, BamaEd. Yeah, everyone would like a piece of Tveit (myself included ;-), so that's probably why he sang. Once you hear the incredible score of N2N, you'll want to hightail it back to NYC to see it. It is an emotionally demanding show, which is why I think it's struggling at the box office.
It's not struggling at the box office. In fact, last week it played to 99% capacity.
Wow! Thanks, Cederick. I did not know that. This is wonderful news for N2N. All I'd been hearing were rumors that it would likely close early. I hope the numbers for it stay strong and that it has a long, prosperous Broadway life.
A few friends and I are going to New York in a few weeks and we're going to check out a Broadway play. I've actually never seen one before (though I saw Wicked in London) so I'm really excited. After last night's Tony Awards, I think I'm leaning towards seeing Next To Normal, their musical number was great! It looks like a very interesting show.

DEFINITELY go see Next to Normal! It's not a play. It's a heartstopping musical that will thrill you. You won't regret it.

She stinks?!?! Good grief, how cruella deville you are!
Whaddya expect from a gal in her sixties after of life of Judy Garland as your momma, trying to get your gay husbands to hop into bed withya, countless nights of booze n' drugs and hip and knee replacements. You don't expect her to come out on stage doing cartwheels do ya!?
OK, so she may be a little nuts, outta shape and rusty of voice, but she's a damned entertaining entertainer. Saw her in Toronto recently and she was engaging and funny. She really put her all into her show. When after the 2nd song so was going full out and nearly collapsed after the song, one hung in rapture and every proceeding song, fearful that she might expire right then and there. It was a most fascinating and entertaining experience and I fully got my money's worth.
