According to playbill.com: "Glory Days was the only Broadway production the nominating committee was unable to attend prior to the nominations cut-off date. The new musical will therefore be considered for next year's awards."
I guess this means "The Country Girl" was eligible. I am surprised it didn't receive any nominations.
Some noteworthy snubs: Rufus Sewell, "Rock 'n' Roll" Jenna Russell, "Sunday in the Park with George" Amy Morton, "August: Osage County" "Passing Strange" for musical
It is also interesting that "Dividing the Estate" was nominated as a new play after Horton Foote took issue with the show's placement in the revival category at the Lortel Awards.
In the Heights was eligible last year as an Off-Broadway show. Can't compete twice.
So, just for the record, the OCC are historically REALLY, REALLY unreliable. They're administered by a group of out-of-town journalists for second-rate publications who really don't know very much about the theater scene here in New York and have absolutely no sway over Tony voters. They also tend to skew more commercial (Which probably explains the 10 nominations for "Young Frankenstein" and 1 for the far better recieved "Passing Strange").
Among the nominees snubbed here who are definitely in at the Tonys are Amy Morton (August: Osage County), Ian McShane (Homecoming) and probably Norbert Leo Butz (Is He Dead?).
The New York Drama Critics, Drama League, and Drama Desk all matter more than these. The only reason they get attention is b/c they're first. Which isn't an accident.
