Hey all! Wonderd if anyone knows which category the three ladies from the cast of 9 to 5 will be placed in for Tony Awards consideration? If memory serves, in the film, all three actresses had fairly equal roles. Does the same hold true for the musical as well? If so, do you think they will all end up in the Leading Actress in a Musical cateogry? Anyone with any insight? Thanks!
I believe that the Tony Rules Committee has 2 more meetings before the nomination process starts, so I don't think we will know the placement of the 9 to 5 ladies until later. 9 to 5 has its Broadway premiere on April 30 which is the last day of the eligibility period, but it starts previews on April 7. I don't know when the meetings are, but I assume they will decide either in mid-late April or in the first few days of May, since the nominations are May 5. I would think they would all go lead, but you never know. I think Lead Actress in a Musical is weak this year so I could see all three of them getting in, as long as 9 to 5 isn't critically annihilated.

Not sure they'd all go lead. My gut says that the producers will try to get at least ONE of them in the featured category (probably Megan Hilty) so that there is a chance for two of them to win.

I actually think they will campaign Kathy Fitgerald who plays Roz in Featured. I think this is a pretty good role...originally it was going to go to Bebe Neuwirth. I know the character has at least a couple of songs. But of course they may put her and one of the 3 main girls in featured.
