I came up this weekend and had a blast. It'll be Tony related soon.

Saw my friend in a festival of 4 short musicals. She was great in hers!

Then today I FINALLY saw Wicked after wanting to see it for almost 5 years. Nicole Parker from MadTV of all places was Elphaba. Lady can SING! Plus, she was great on the comedic parts. Still can't touch Idina, but who can. According to my sister, Stephanie J. Block has a better voice, but Idina was the better actress. All players were great. Alli Mauzey brought great silliness to Galinda at the beginning, but brought it back down to serious after intermission. Great job differentiating it. Rondi Reed from August: Osage County (which I almost decided to see) was a great evil Madame Morrible.

Then tonight, I tried to find something to see and went to see Rock of Ages, a new musical based on 80s Hair Band songs. LOL, it's MUCH better than it sounds Official Site. EVERYONE had a wonderful fun time there. The set looked great. They were playing 80s hair band music as warm up. Another plus. Then David Coverdale from Whitesnake was the recorded voice doing the announcements about cell phones, etc. The show is great. It really gives you a sense of the 80s. They didn't have an orchestra, they had a house band. Constantine from American Idol is the star and does a very good job. Amy Spanger is the love interest Sherry. She comes out in bleach blond hair, denim jacket, denim skirt, and t shirt. If she had Garden Weasel bangs, she could have come from any high school in Alabama, mine for example. LOL. The songs were great. Some Whitesnake, Poison, Styx, Twisted Sister, etc. They made Sister Christian deep, We're Not Gonna Take It a protest against big business, High Enough was beautiful, I heard More Than Words and I thought of 2 of my friends IMMEDIATELY! LOL. If you go up to New York soon, GO SEE THIS MUSICAL! Everyone was singing along, clapping, dancing in their seats. Being in the 2nd row, anything they threw from the stage, I got to catch. At the end, the lead guitarist threw out his pick. I felt something stick to my neck and fall to the floor. It was the pick. LOL. I stuck it in my pocket. I didn't know what I would have done with it though. Talked with a group of folks that had been at the show too. It was one of the ladies 50th birthday. So I gave HER the pick. She was THRILLED! I took a picture to put on Facebook and let her have it. It finished making her night. Oh, the 2 stars came out after and I got pics and autographs. It was such a fun show. I loved it. I hope it does well. It was a great time for everyone there, although bringing liquor to the seats, not the greatest idea. LOL. It was wonderful dumb fun. Will it be a Tony contender, no, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

yeah, I'm bumping my own post. Didn't want the spam to be the last thing posted in here. :-)

Anyway, I had a BLAST in NYC and hope to go back soon. Found a nice clean inexpensive hotel in Manhattan just a short distance from Times Square by subway, although it was such a nice day I walked from 87th to 51st to see Wicked. I want to go back to see 9 to 5, too bad I doubt I'd get to meet Dolly though. And I probably will go see Rock of Ages again if I can get 2nd row tickets again. LOL Rock
