Robin Williams headed for Broadway Comedian taking 'Weapons' tour to Neil Simon
By GORDON COX
Robin Williams will bring his standup to Broadway in the spring when the tour of his solo show "Weapons of Self-Destruction" gets a short stint at the Neil Simon Theater.
James L. Nederlander and Ron Delsener will present "Weapons," which kicked off an 80-city tour earlier this month in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Williams has only played the Rialto twice in the past, the last time in 2002 with "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway." That production was broadcast live on HBO, just as Will Ferrell's current Broadway offering, "You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W Bush," will be telecast on the pay cabler in March.
"Weapons" runs April 28-May 3 at the Neil Simon, which was home to "Hairspray" until the tuner shuttered in January.
