I think of the Norman men the most likely to win is Paul Ritter, but no question the presence of more than one nominee from the show with decrease all their chances.

Will Swenson in "Hair" is definitely to be considered featured?

Is Marc Kudisch definitely Featured for 9 to 5? Tom O'Neil listed him among the Lead possibilities a few days ago, so I'm confused.

I meant was Will Swenson most likely to win featured actor? I have no doubt the "Billy" boys will win lead over a pretty weak line-up.

Note: I imagine that I have made some egregious omissions (and corresponding inclusions) in these predictions. I actually can't think of a year where predicting the Tony nominations has been so difficult. Particularly with respect to revivals of plays, there is a tremendous wealth of contenders, many of whom would have been shoo-ins in previous years. Outside of Best Play, Best Revival of a Musical, and Best Featured Actor in a Musical, I think it's a total crapshoot...

Can I just ask why the three male leads from Billy Elliott would occupy only one slot?

This year's Emmys, give some love for The Shield

Aah. It's gonna be a tough one. I remember Christopher Seiber, a vet of many Broadway musicals, getting Tony buzz as soon as Shrek opened. It's a scene-stealing performance - the kind that often does well in this category - and people also like him a lot.

There also seems to be a following for Gregory Jbara in Billy Elliot, also a vet of several musicals, also well-liked personally.

Swenson is for sure in it with these two guys but he's got a few drawbacks, the biggest being that he's in an ensemble show and his role doesn't provide quite the same distinction as the other two.

It's happened before. Maybe you know some of this: In 1959 all of the Von Trapp children were nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. In 1974 John Kani and Winston Ntshona were jointly nominated and won Lead Actor (Play) for Sizwe Banzi is Dead and The Island. In 1998 Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner were nominated for Lead Actress (Musical) for Side Show.

The major difference between all of these and the Billys is obviously that all of these other nominees were in every performance of the show. The Billys rotate the role and this is what has caused some controversy, since Tony voters are comped for only 1 performance. Thus, they'll see only 1 of the Billys, not all 3. So technically they will be voting for performances they did not see if they vote in that category, which is against the rules.

But to consider all 3 as one nominee is what the Tony administration decision was, regardless.
