I'm not researched enough on the plays to make those predictions, but I can take a shot at musical:

Best New Musical:
A Catered Affair
In The Heights
Young Frankenstein
Xanadu

Young Frankenstein and Xanadu are vulnerable...possibly replaced by either Cry Baby or The Little Mermaid. Passing Strange is a giant question mark to me.

Best Revival of Musical:
Gypsy
South Pacific
Sunday in the Park With George

Grease hasn't got a shot at all of making it in, I think.

Best Actress in a Musical:
Kerry Butler, Xanadu
Patti Lupone, Gypsy
Kelli O'Hara, South Pacific
Faith Prince, A Catered Affair
Jenna Russell, Sunday in the Park with George

I'd say the one to watch out for is Sierra Boggess for Mermaid. In a sub-par production, she's gotten more than stellar reviews.

Best Actor in a Musical:
Roger Bart, Young Frankenstein
Daniel Evans, Sunday in the Park with George
Harvey Feirstein, A Catered Affair
Lin-Manuel Miranda, In the Heights
James Snyder, Cry Baby

Paulo Szot (South Pacific) could replace Snyder. Cheyenne Jackson could sneak in for Xanadu, depending on how well that show is received by the nominators. Roger Bart's also vulnerable here.

Best Supporting Actress in a Musical:
Laura Benanti, Gypsy
Leslie Kritzer, A Catered Affair
Olga Merediz, In the Heights
Megan Mullaly, Young Frankenstein
Sherie Rene Scott, The Little Mermaid

This is the most crowded category. Sutton Foster has been nominated for all of her Broadway roles, and she could get in for Frankenstein, as could Andrea Martin. The Xanadu ladies Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman have a chance, though it's diminished by their teamwork over solo performance in the show. Veteran Priscilla Lopez and newbies Karen Olivo and Mandy Gonzalez could find their way in on In the Heights love. Bloody Mary in South Pacific is a previously Tony-Award winning role so look out for Loretta Ables Sayre. Ali Mauzey and Harriet Harris are getting good marks for Cry Baby and also look out for Benanti's Gypsy co-star Leigh Ann Larkin. Plus, if Grease were to make a dent in any category this would be it (probably Jenny Powers's Rizzo or Kirsten Wyatt's Frenchie. So yea...crowded category, but I feel good placing the five listed as front runners.

Best Supporting Actor in a Musical:
Christopher Fitzgerald, Young Frankenstein
Boyd Gaines, Gypsy
Matthew Morrison, South Pacific
Tony Roberts, Xanadu
Tom Wopat, A Catered Affair

Look out for Danny Burstein, a nominee last year, to return for South Pacific. Titus Burgess has a shot for Mermaid, and Wopat's Catered Affair co-star Matt Cavenaugh could get in too. Passing Strange and Cry Baby is full of young actors who could enter this category, though I'm predicting that it would be dominated by these veterans (and the spritely Fitzgerald). My dark horse nominee is Fred Applegate for Young Frankenstein, whose Blind Man brought the house down.

I'm predicting Grease to be totally shut out in the major categories, garnering only a nod for Choreography (maybe). The Little Mermaid has a shot at Book, Score, and Director. I'm not too sure how Passing Strange will be received.

Any time there have been enough nominees to fill the roster in the revival category, all get nominated, regardless of quality. "Grease" will make it in for that reason alone. It will probably be the show's only nod.

I'd say that's about 90% certain to be the Best Actress in a Musical lineup.

Evans, Feirstein, and Miranda are all sure bets for Lead Actor. Szot could easily walk in to their company, and given the reports on how his "This Nearly Was Mine" is bringing audiences to tears, it seems more and more likely.

Featured Actress is a big mystery so far, but I think if I had to name one person most likely to get nodded it'd be Andrea Martin.

Fitzgerald, Gaines and Morrison all seem good choices in Featured Actor. Titus Burgess has not a snowball's chance in hell.

"Mermaid" was a pretty awful show and got pretty solidly panned by everyone, so I think in general you overestimate the affinity the tiny, discriminating nomination committee will have for it.

Wopat will go lead and Feirsten supporting, I think. If the show doesn't change much Wopat has the 11 o'clock musical number, which will make him competitive in the Lead category. I also predict Prince will win the Tony over Lupone, who needs to create an original role on Broadway if she ever wants to win again.

Aspiring actor.

In NO WAY should Mullally be nominated for "Young Frankenstein." It is more of a cameo, and if she gets in it will be because of who she is. If anything, Sutton Foster should go Lead and Andrea Martin in Supporting.

However, I think the only deserving acting noms are Christopher Fitzgerald and especially Andrea Martin. These two, in addition to the technical aspects, were the best parts of YF.

...as far as the show goes being nominated for Best Musical, let me just say I enjoyed "Xanadu" much better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Tony committee has already ruled that all three Young Frankenstein girls will be supporting.

Two quick changes (following the preview of "Cry-Baby");

Remove "Cry-Baby" from BEST MUSICAL and replace with "In The Heights"; remove Harriet Harris with Alli Mauzy-"Cry Baby".

"Glory Days" a new, small musical, is racing toward the Circle in the Square Theatre (vacated by the small musical "Spelling Bee") and is likely to be a contender in some Tony categories this season.

It's probably not a bad move for Glory Days, if they're hoping for a nice little bounce from any nods to jumpstart interest in the show. Especially since this is a pretty weak season for new musicals and next season has Billy Elliott, Shrek, and possibly Catch Me If You Can on the horizon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless we hear news of a formal petition, or some reversal, Eve Best is a Leading Actress. She's above the title and was not moved in the last administration committee decision.

It's bad news for her if she is in that category - she's got a good chance to win in Featured but may not even been nominated in Leading.
