I don't know if everyone took note, but there seemed to be a rather large no show population of the nominees. Does anyone know any reason why some people were not there?

Well, i don't know. it was odd so many people were absent. It was odd that Sean Penn didn't show up.
Doesn't Judi Dench live in England? maybe she didn't want to fly out for the globes?
I just read in another thread that Mariksa has a collaposed lung, maybe she was in the hospital or at home resting?
I know that i didn't see Katie Holmes at all, which was odd since Tom Cruise was nominated.
