Those were the best effing moments! I love when the gang gets liquored up and starts misbehavin' That and surprise wins make for memorable shows. Remember when that actor won for a TV thing and wanted to give it to Jack Lemmon who he brought up on stage? That was a chuckle!

When did Brad or Angie have a chance at winning? Seriously? The talk has all been Kate, Meryl and Anne. Sean, Mickey and Frank. So tell me how it is shocking that either didn't win tonight?

My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.

We'll see, then. To ignore and deny American film's highest honor for a movie that's quality at every level, a cultural phenomenom, to actually give Titanic a run for its all-time boxoffice championship would be just incomprehensible.

I see Rourke pulled off a deserving win! I think HFPA really doesn't like Sean Penn. I think that played a part in Penn losing, but I think Rourke deserved his win. Good for him. I still think the Oscar will go to Penn.

End of Finke:

Fox Searchlight's Slumdog Millionaire wins BEST PICTURE - DRAMA. This wouldn't be a surprise if the HFPA had integrity -- after all, I wrote weeks ago that it was already getting the most talk among Academy members for the Best Picture Oscar. But considering the lengths to which Paramount went to promote The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, and get both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (for Uni's Changeling) to attend the Golden Globes, only to be blanked -- well, what's up with that? Brad Grey, who not only repped Brad but also ran his Plan B film company and pushed Benjamin Button to get made, must be cursing out the HFPA. Or maybe the group was holding out for BMWs this year

For some reason, they find it entertaining to make joke of poor Catemacauley I guess it shows her insider popularity???
Anyway, poor thing can't catch a break even when she is not there.

Did anybody notice Tina Fey's mention of several goldderby/envelope posters in her speech, i believe dianefan and couragletter?

My reactions:

overall a very boring golden globes, far to restrained from previous years, with some very boring acceptance speeches and utterly predictable winners in many categories.

I'm not feeling all this love for Slumdog, i believe that it's very overrated.

Winslet winning once was acceptable, but twice is not, i would have given Anne Hathaway the win.

A lot of the speeches tonight were so forgettable.

It was an okay show with some surprising wins (Sally Hawkins, Two wins for Winslet, all the slumdog love, Mickey Rourke beating Sean Penn)...

"The Dark Knight" may be the #2 movie of all time but it is still behind "Titanic" by a few hundred million dollars. It may be #2 but a distant #2.

Awesome for

Rourke and Slumdog! Also for Paquin for True Blood.

Thank God Winslet was the only thing to win for Rev Road. What a horrible movie. Her performance was the only thing worth nominating - let alone winning. So they got that right at least.

Awesome for VCB as well.

Darren Arren - awesome director. Needs an Oscar nom. Mickey was right about him.

Because of issues like that I still had "Curious" as my best picture prediction with "Slumdog" taking director and screenplay. I just could not see those starf*cking Globe voters giving best picture to a movie without any stars.
