Someone else has almost certainly wrote of this bizarre turn of events But for an OSCAR oddsmaker going into his 27th year this yr It is downright off the charts bizarre, that 4 time winner>*Clint Eastwood has not only been ignored by the Hollywood Foreign press ass. but now SAG as well>>> I've seen quite a bit of "Gran Torino"-(though not the entire picture as yet) & just from the footage his role literally screams "OSCAR!" It really was shaping up to be a shooting match-(no pun intended) between the 78yr old & *Penn
If this turns out to be "the Race" for Best Actor, then it's gonna' be mighty dull
I had hoped his peers would at least want to give him a 3rd acting nomination-(if not victory) Even if *Sean deserves to win anyway & still does
Possibly, it's the un "PC" role he plays?

dunno"I RECKON' NOT"

Question:
WHAT IS GOING ON IN IGNORING THE LEGENDARY *CLINT EASTWOOD???

Choices:
AS CITED, IT MAY WELL BE MORE "PC" GARBAGE

This does not actually answer the question you are asking.

Also, there are all sorts of possible non-political answers to the question you are asking.

Since the film, I am almost sure, ends up working as a plea for tolerance it may even be considered P.C. so I think you may be way off in your question anyway.

I dont believe it is possible to seperate art and politics. They're the same, imo.

Thanks for fast reply! I did not essentially mean to say that was the total reason for his 08 acting snubbing-(so-far) Just speculated
What do you think of him still being in the race for "The Biggie?" No Globe nod & now this, does not look good, huh?

& why is Patel in the supporting slot of "S. Millionaire?" Is he not the star??? Seeing-it this weekend dunno

& to the other that chimed-in

Cool handle on 1982's "Blade Runner" A film I that a powerhouse-(especially Rutger Haur's per., Art-Direction-(though of course *"Gandhi" won it too)& Vangelis score! When I first saw it up in N.J. june of 1982 & as you know a B.O. failure? Now finally getting it's due. & I like the Marlowe narration, how about yourself?

Since the film, I am almost sure, ends up working as a plea for tolerance it may even be considered P.C. so I think you may be way off in your question anyway.

I don't think Sean Penn is really the one to beat...from what Tom has written on goldderby, his chances may wilt from bad publicity. And the fact that he has no interest in engaging with the media, even the so called "elite media."

But hasn't this been the same case as Million Dollar Baby? Ignored by Globes and SAG but still got nommed?

I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

Again thanx to those that replied to original post! However, on this particular question-(SAG & Globes) & his superb *"MDB" I'm by far more of an OSCAR cinephile-(ala>Academy Award Guru on this very site) & have files on all winners of them both, but not the exact nominees each yr without looking them up I'm certain someone on here can verify this one though Because, the more I see of *Clint's powerful looking role
the stronger it appears-(especially considering likely competition this yr) However, I don't quite understand why you think *Penn may not win again though? They adore bio's dunno

Saw your lil' item on Anne Hathaway & just could not resist!

Knew this doll would be a star, even though of course *"Marvelous Meryl" stole "Devil Wears Prada"-(NOTE: They were planning a tv sitcom of same???) She just has "Star Quality" & "Those-Eyes!" But, ironically she will likely get blown-out vs. *Streep this yr for "The Golden Boy" For "Doubt' of course, as opposed to the massive hit>"Mamma Mia!"-(bet *Meryl takes home 2 G. Globes as well)

It's off the topic of *Clint, though just couldn't resist QUESTION: What about past NBR Best Actor winners in regard to also earning an AMPAS nod???)
