My understanding of Nine puts the actors into the following categories:
Lead Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis
Lead Actress - Marion Cotillard
Supporting Actress - Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Stacy Ferguson, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman & Sophia Loren

In regards to Isla Fisher (as much as I admire her) I don't think that she could get in for Confessions of a Shopaholic and the same goes for 17 Again, Zac Efron is good but is this film really Golden Globe worthy? Miley Cyrus could actually pull through here in either or both Comedy/Musical Actress and Original Song.

Assuming it isn't forgotten by Awards season, I could definitely see the Golden Globes nominating Mariah Carey for "Push" or "Precious" or whatever it is going to be called.

Her role is tiny, but the Globes do love to star**** so I wouldn't be surprised.

Have you seen the movie? If so, even though the role is tiny, is Mariah good in it? Sometimes some of the best performances are very brief (i.e. Beatrice Straight, Judi Dench, etc.)

I haven't seen the film but she looks very good in the trailer - but it looks like it isn't the very-good-in-a-small-role kind of performance that attracts the attention nowadays. It looks subtle and nuanced rather than explosive and grandstanding.

The Marion Cotillard role in Nine was nominated for Featured (Supporting) Actress both times the role was nominated for Tonys.

I don't know if Mariah Carey will get nominated for her acting. She is getting rave reviews...so you never know, lol. But I doubt it. However, I do believe that Monique will get a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the film.

I also believe that either Mariah Carey or Robin Thicke will recieve a nomination for Best Original Song. Robin Thicke created the theme song for the film, and Carey is creating/created another song for the film. I strongly believe that one of them will make it into that category.

I would like to see BBC's "Mistresses" get a nod for Best Drama Series along with Sharon Small for Best Supporting Actress although she does have some strong material to go Lead Actress.

After just watching State of Play, I really hope that some nominations go its way.
Maybe:
*Motion Picture Drama
*Lead Actor - Russell Crowe
*Lead Actress - Rachel McAdams
*Supporting Actress - Helen Mirren

While the lead categories are probably not going to happen for this film one can always dream can't they.
