I have a strong feeling that she's going to miss on an Emmy nom comes July. We're going to see some old faces plus Anna Paquin. And my feelings are most of the time right. I just want her to win something and Globe would be perfect. I'm hearing that she's getting another strong storyline this season concerning her new baby. It would be fantastic if she finally won an award for her brilliant performance (I'm starting to sound like a freakin' fanboy). Maybe this is going to be similar case like with Kyra Sedgwick some years ago. She lost on her first nom for "The Closer" to Geena Davis (who was Oscar-winner overdue for Globe) and won next year. The same situation has happened to Jones this year when Paquin won. Do you guys think she has a chance? Or maybe HFPA doesn't have guts to award almost unknown over someone famous? Who is going to be her competition this year? I don't see anyone. Close has already won (I hope she won't win another one!), Field is old news, other actress too... Maybe Maura Tierney for "Parenthood"? God, I just want January to win something! nana

She only has a chance if there's not a new HBO drama with a leading actress.

Hemingway once told a friend he was considering giving up writing. "But Ernest," the friend protested. "You love writing!" "No," corrected Hemingway. "I love having written."

Yes, I believe January Jones has a huge chance. She is becoming more and more well-known, acting chops and looks alike, and I'm almost positive that she will have a great future career post-Mad Men! I want January to win something too! And maybe this is just me, but I think she's the current frontrunner for the Emmy and hopefully Golden Globe!

P.S. - Geena Davis deserved that Golden Globe for Commander in Chief! I'm glad Kyra Sedgwick won it the next year! If only the Emmys worked like that... roflmao

P.S. 2 - Look out for Julianna Margulies in The Good Wife as well...

I think if her performances are continued to be well recieved and the show is still on the radar it is possible.

No worries about Tierney. Parenthood won't air until midseason, so it will not be eligible.

I think if Mad Men is as good or even better this upcoming season then she's in.

After today's Emmy nominations I don't expect her to even get a nomination. She will share the faith of Lorraine Bracco (but without any nominations): always a bride's maid never a bride. HFPA will award Moss with a statuette because it's so "trendy" nowadays. suicide

I don't know, I'm starting to think it's going to be hard for any actor to win from Mad Men because it's seen as an ensemble. I mean people stand out but perhaps not enough for individual rewards. Jon Hamm has the GG, but not much else which I always found odd.

The season 3 storylines could change that though. The fact that January moved up to lead and got the nomination at The Globes certainly put her in better standing with the network for the new season. And magazine editors are treating her like a leading lady with all the editorials she's getting.

I think if the GG's want to be "trendy" and seem like they started it first, then I think they will in fact award Jones this year. She's been doing a lot of press lately, and though she was snubbed at the Emmys this year, the GG's can like take pride in the fact that they can possibly give her the win first, just like they can take pride with Paquin. The GG's are just a trendy awards show, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I think they like to make a name for themselves as well.

You watch and see, January Jones will deservedly win the Golden Globe! Hopefully she will go on to Emmy next, but you watch and see! Because she got nominated last year, that really really helps! So hopefully it'll be a win this year! boogie

I think it's more important for her to get an individual SAG nom than a Golden Globe. Moss got one over her and look what happened. If Jones gets both then she's good to go.

I think that Moss was, possibly, aided by her rave reviews for Speed-the-Plow, in the way I think Huffman's DH win was PARTIALLY due to TransAmerica and her festival buzz.

(FYI, I wholeheartedly agree with Huffman's win, even shrieking for joy @ her triumphing over that twat Hatcher.)

Best Director - Kathryn Bigelow
Best Actor - Jeremy Renner, Sam Rockwell, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Oh, now that I saw first two episodes of 3rd season of "Mad Men" I can say that Weiner has another great story coming for Betty. I want to see her win something so badly. I thought she might actually get this year's Globe because Close already has one for her series and she was her only serious competition, but now that I'm hearing good thins about "The Good Wife" I'm afraid that Julianna Margulies might steal Globe from January. We all know that HFPA loves to ward someone first, but the thing is that Jones also wasn't awarded yet for her performance as Betty. Well, fingers crossed for her winning it.

I wanna see Elisabeth Moss get in this year. She's done such a great job so far, and after her SAG and Emmy noms, hopefully the HFPA can catch up.

I can see the lineup being: Moss, Jones, Close, and Sedgwick. I don't know who would take that 5th spot. I think it could be Margulies, Field, Paquin, or one of the Big Love ladies (they like the show way more than the Emmys do).

Yeah, I have that feeling too. She's out. Not only this year, but for good. Well, none of the best actress on TV has ever won anything, so I can use to it (Gellar, Graham, Britton and the list goes on). It's sad that when Jones had her best season ever she didn't win anything, it was her only chance.

People needs to chill out. It'll either happen or it won't. I prediect it will, but maybe not this year. MM ain't going anywhere as far as awards go. The more voters become acquainted with the series and her perfromance the better chance she'll have.

Congrats Kristen! All the PD haters can (SPOILER ALERT) Suck it!

The globes usually nominate from 5-7 ladies so she has a great chance of getting in. If she were an emmy nominee it would be much easier, but honestly she's way to "hot" in terms of the buzz around her acting and her looks for the Globes to drop after one nomination.

I suspect she'll get lots of showy material when Betty finally drops the baby and her bitchy hormonal attitude. I have to say though that I'm surprised that Sally Kiernan has gotten as much or more material than January Jones so far.

I she'll be nommed, but it will also depend on how many new contenders there are. I see the line-up now as:

Glenn Close
Juliana Marguilies(unless her show is a complete failure)
Elisabeth Moss
Kyra Sedgwick(though the could be over her)
Anna Paquin
January Jones

I think Mad Men will get two ladies in at the SAGs this year as well.

Okey, I read spoilers for upcoming episodes and the second half of the 3rd season seems like a showcase for Jones. She's leading, nothing else should be said. Both, her and Moss are leading and should be nominated for Golden Globe and if HFPA members read critics responses after Emmy nominations (Jones being the biggest snub fo the year) they will give an award to January, just to show they are better than Emmys because they recognized her first. Fingers crossed.

I hope! I haven't read the spoilers, nor do I plan to either, but in the past 2 episodes January Jones was fantastic - completely awards-worthy IMO! I can't wait to see the remaining part of the season!

I hope she will be awarded by the Globes - she fits their standards too - up-and-coming, highly buzzed about talented actress who just so happens to be young and wildly BEAUTIFUL!
