L.A. critics wired for 'Wall-E' Disney/Pixar toon named best pic of year By JUSTIN CHANGThe Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. has named Disney/Pixar's "Wall-E" the best picture of the year, marking the first time in its history that it has given its top prize to an animated film. Danny Boyle took the directing award for Fox Searchlight's "Slumdog Millionaire." Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight," a Warner Bros. release, was the runner-up for both pic and director.
