Congratulations to all of these winners, and especially for Meryl Streep. I will laugh so long and hard if and when she brings home the Oscar. I'm happy to see TDK win one, but it's unfortunate that this genre is seen as needing it's own category. Still, a win is a win.

Congrats to "Slumdog Millionaire" on its wins and the continued citations for Heath and Penelope.

even though they're not as big as la or ny, kansas has been probably the most accurate of all critics awards. coincidence or not, it bodes well for the winners, so congrats to them.

Do you have any evidence to back that up? Looking over their past winners they do not seem any more accurate than other small critics awards. They were wrong on a lot of major winners.
Examples (though there are many more examples):
Best Picture: "There Will Be Blood", "Munich", "About Schmidt", "United 93", "Traffic", "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"
Best Director: Paul Thomas Anderson- "There Will Be Blood" & Julian Schnabel- "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", Paul Greengrass- "United 93", Steven Spielberg- "Munich", Martin Scorsese- "The Aviator"
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis- "Gangs of New York", Geoffrey Rush- "Quills, Ian McKellen- "Gods and Monsters", Ian Holm- "The Sweet Hereafter" (I will admit they were pretty accurate on best actor for the last ten or so years)
Best Actress: Jennifer Connelly- "House of Sand and Fog", Reese Witherspoon- "Election", Ellen Burstyn- "Requiem for a Dream", Julianne Moore- "Far From Heaven", Helena Bonham Carter- "The Wings of the Dove"

yeah i do have a lot of evidence to back it up; the fact that the vast majority of the time do get it right. won't bother copying it here, just check out yourself =)

I did look it up otherwise I would not have found the examples I did and like I said before I saw no great accuracy on the part of the Kansas City Film Critics. The smaller critics groups as a whole are more accurate in predicting the Oscars than the artier top critics' groups due to both softer tastes and maybe even availability of some of the films.
