Michael Sheen in supporting; Adams, not Davis, for Doubt.

Not a bad list of nominees. Cate Blanchett is grossly missing once again from these small awards groups.

Happy to see Josh Brolin up for Best Actor this time around..with Leo Dicaprio as well.

And....FINALLY...we see the splendid Kate Winslet up for Best Actress for "Revolutionary Road".

My guess is probably they haven't seen The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, or not enough of them to nominate it since Taraji P. Henson didn't show up here either; she's been showing up at a few places.

Maybe all that buzz was wrong. I think it started at In Contention with Kris Tapley, but I could be mistaken about that. I know that was the first place I read about Shannon's buzz, but Tapley doesn't always have the best track record when it comes to the Oscars although I do find that his tastes match up the most out of the Oscar pundits that I'm familiar with. While I'm certainly not as much as an expert as he, I still couldn't believe that he thought Diane Lane had no chance to be nominated for Unfaithful until she kept picking up so many precursors then he finally if reluctantly changed his mind.

Anyhow, he better pick up a Globe nomination today if he wants to be nominated for an Oscar because he certainly can't rely on the critics to give him a boost. In fact, I'm thinking of replacing him out of my line-up with Eddie Marsan. Hawkins seems like she will likely be nominated now for Best Actress since she'll pick up the Globe nomination and probably win with little competition except Streep. Plus, she has all those other critic awards, so I think she's safe. I think that she'll likely bring Marsan with her too.

I am also happy for Marisa Tomei. She has turned into a fine actress over the years. I would like to see her Oscar nominated again soon.

Some people, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.

Woo hoo! Scrolling down a pretty standard list of critics noms, imagine my surprise to see Catinca Untaru cited for Best Newcomer for "The Fall." Next stop, Oscar! ... Okay, maybe not.

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."
- Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)
