I hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes here, but I didn't get to chime in on the ceremony before the first thread was closed.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
The Good:
- John Krasinski and Amy Poehler. Now, THAT is how you present an award.
- Meryl's acceptance speech. I really hope she wins the Oscar, because you KNOW her acceptance speech is going to be EPIC.
- Hugh Laurie. Even though the television academy will never properly reward him for his work on House, it's nice see that certain groups out there see what a genius he is.
The Bad:
- Mad Men. I know I'm totally in the minority, here, but I just don't get this show. I could only watch about 15 minutes of the pilot before I started nodding off.
The Ugly:
- Meryl's wardrobe. Seriously, every time I see her at an awards show, she looks like she went rummaging in the sale bin at Big Lots for her outfit. Come on, Meryl! Get with it!

You know I think Meryl thought she wasn't going to win, so she didn't really care what she looked like. I mean I didn't know til she went on stage that she was wearing pants, I thought it was a dress. I thought it was hilarious that she commented about what she was wearing. IMO, it wouldn't have mattered if she was wearing a paper bag she had the best speech. You know what though, she has always had a weird fashion since, I can remember that crazy looking dress she wore to the Oscars when she won for Sophie's Choice, it was long sleeve and looked like something from Little House on the Prairie, but it didn't matter b/c she was amazing in that movie, won a very deserving Oscar and gave a great speech (it was hilarious b/c she dropped the piece of paper w/ her speech on it)
For Your Grammy Consideration: Kristin Chenoweth - in all eligible categories
Hugh Laurie, John Hamm would like his Actor back! I can't believe how he was robbed! But thank God that Mad Men won for Best Dramatic Series!
It would have been cool to see Giamanti accept his award.
I'm overjoyed that Winslet won for Best Supporting Actress. Congrats are in order for Streep as well. That was a very cool speech!
Sean Penn, you earned that award! I'm so stoked that Penn won for Best Actor.
Heath Ledger's win was expected. I'm so happy for his win. Gary Oldman's speech was so moving and touching. Man, I wish Ledger was here to see and feel all of this tremendous love he's getting from not only his fans but from the industry. May God Bless You Heath!
Okay, the following might actually shock everyone who's been following my posts here. But guess what? I'm so Happy for Slumdog's win for Best Ensemble. I was watching the SAGs with my sister and she made a remark which made me think that I should be so supportive for this film. And Now, I'm rooting for them to win for Best Picture at the Oscars.
