Im rooting for Sean but if Rourke wins at the SAGs then he will be the favorite to win the oscar.
Gut feeling is that SM will win Best Ensemble at the SAGs. The way HW is talking about this movie it is another Gone With the Wind. This is one time HW has been sweep up by the momentum of the precursers. I personnally havent seen the movie but everyone I know who has saw it were not overy impressed.

I was already shocked and appalled when the cast of TDK wasn't nominated, so I have no idea what those people are gonna do. As the years have gone on and I've tuned in every year, I'm not sure how qualified the majority of them are to vote for acting awards.
I know because the acting branch of the Academy is the biggest bunch that people look to the SAGs as an indicator of who will win Oscars, but the actors in the Academy have had some success and are invited. These people just have SAG cards, right?
FYC District 9 and Sharlto Copley The Hurt Locker and Jeremy Renner and Kathryn Bigelow Watchmen This Is It Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man
I can definitely imagine Slumdog winning, though I'd prefer Milk.
I love how after the Globes the acting races at this point (except Supp. Actor) all have their share of cloudiness. I kind of wish the SAGs weren't on this year just because I think they are going to clear everything up too much and then it'll be boring heading into the Oscars. I'm hoping the obvious wins for Meryl Streep, Penn/Rourke, and Winslet DON'T happen. How much more intriguing would the Oscar race be were Hathaway, Langella, and Cruz (or another left field combination) to win?
Josh Brolin wins Supporting Actor. That would certainly be a suprise. I know at this point it is almost foolish to predict anyone else, but I actually think this is the one award where someone other than Heath could win. Although actors seem to love him too so....

I've got to admit that Josh Brolin did some outstanding work. I actually liked his portrayal of Bush (although I didn't find Bush sympathic, like others did) and he did great work in Milk as Dan White. I know that SAG adores him. I would be completely utterly SHOCK beyond belief if somehow he gets a win for Best Supporting Actor. I still maintain that Heath has this thing in the bag.

The ones really to watch are Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress - though the outcome might not bring any greater clarity to who's ahead in those races.
Even if Sean Penn wins, which he probably will since he's an actor's actor and they passed him over for Mystic River, I think Mickey Rourke is still the frontrunner for the Oscar. It's a much showier performance and Penn's previous win will definitely hurt his chances.
Ledger walks away with Supporting Actor, again.
Milk or Slumdog for ensemble? Neither will be a huge upset over the other.
The only nominee with any reasonable chance to win that would be a genuine surprise is Anne Hathaway.

I honestly thought "Rachel" love going into awards season would be bigger than it has been. After I saw it I thought we were definitely looking at Hathaway, Screenplay, and probably Winger nominations with a good chance for Directing and Picture.
But opinion has been polarized for the movie and personally I think it was released a little too early in the fall.

I really hope I get to see it one of these days! LoL. I've always loved Hathaway. I wasn't paying much attention to movies last fall, if it was even playing in my area at all.
In the TV categories I would really like to see Christina Applegate win, I don't think this will happen as Tina Fey will almost definately win. Also, Michael C. Hall in my opinion has a good shot of winning with an ensemble nomination for Dexter and his individual nomination fingers crossed that he wins something.

My guess would be Anne Hathaway winning. Her buzz is getting greater and greater and at the right time too! I think for now, this SAG race is between Streep and Hathaway (Winslet will still take supporting for The Reader), but my money is on Hathaway to surprise!

Now that would be such a delightful surprise if that happens. But I think it's Streep's to lose since theyt haven't rewarded her yet for a film work. Unless Doubt takes Ensemble and Hatahway wins. Gawd, the possibilities are endless. LOL.
I'm also wishing that Penelope Cruz wwill win but since evryone's money is now on Kate Winslet after getting an oscar nom for that performance, I'd be surprised if Cruz still amnages to win. LOL.
I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

Christina Apllegate winning would also be a sweet surprise. She has been a constant nominee from the Globes to the SAG [last year] and to the Emmys, and making the Globes and SAG again this year, I think it's time to finally reward her.

I don't feel Christina Applegate at all. Just because she's been nominated doesn't mean she's been deserving of the noms. There are others who are more overdue. Mary Louise Parker for the block.
