Great choice! ------------------------------------------------ SAG honors Betty White Actress to receive lifetime achievement award by DAVE MCNARY
The Screen Actors Guild has tapped Betty White as the recipient of its Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.
White will be presented the kudo at the 16th Annual SAG Awards on Jan. 23.
”Whether creating some of television’s most indelible characters, plunging into film roles with joyous gusto or perfecting the art of the quip as a television panelist and host, Betty White has entertained audiences with her impeccable comic timing and remarkable wit for more than sixty years," said SAG prexy Alan Rosenberg. "Her lifelong devotion to the welfare of animals, manifest in her work as an author, producer, and philanthropist, is further evidence of her tremendous humanity and meaningful contributions in so many important areas."
White's currently shooting Disney feature “You Again” and recently appeared in romantic comedy “The Proposal.” She's received six Emmys and is best known for her roles in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Golden Girls."
White broke into the business in 1949, when she joined the KLAC-TV variety show “Hollywood on Television.” She fomed Bandy Prods. in 1952 and created the domestic comedy “Life with Elizabeth,” for which she received her first Emmy, and went on to produce and host ”The Betty White Show.”
White has also been a regular on late-night talk shows going back to Jack Paar, Merv Griffin and Johnny Carson and on game shows such as “The Match Game,” “To Tell the Truth,” “I’ve Got A Secret” “Liar’s Club” and ”Password.”

i love their choices every year, they pick perhaps not the big names like the globes. i personally have never been this excited for this award. well deserved betty!

Definitely. I think the SAG Awards are much better at picking people to honor for their Lifetime Achievement Awards than either the Academy Awards, and especially the Golden Globes. I know the Academy Awards may be limited in who they can honor due to potential honorees mostly working in film, and not having won already, but the Globes are just a bunch of star****ers, and they don't even pick diverse stars instead just going with an older, straight white male known from film work mostly, whose probably been honored by a billion other organizations already.
