I'm predicting Milk to win in Original Screenplay though it would be fun to see Vicky Cristina Barcelona take it.

As for Adapted Screenplay, Slumdog Millionaire will probably complete its victory at all guilds which I hope would be a good sign for the BP at the Oscars.

I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

Seriously. I'd watch!

Guess at Winners:
Original: Milk
Adapted: Slumdig
Drama Series: Mad Men. (Though I'd like to see The Wire or Lost)
Comedy Series: 30 Rock
New Series: Breaking Bad, or In Treatment
Episodic Drama: Breaking Bad Pilot
Episodic Comedy: Believe in the Stars, Robert Carlock, 30 Rock. (Assuming they don't just mark down Tina Fey.
Long Form Original: Recount
Long Form Adaption: John Adams
Animation: Simpsons - "E Plurbus Wiggum" or the "Debarted" Really any of those.
Comedy/Variety: Colbert Report (Though they might go SNL cause of the Palin/election stuff. Which if you've watched SNL since you know would be undeserved.)
Don't particularly care about the rest...

Slumdog wins again...

“Slumdog Millionaire” made a clean sweep of the major guilds tonight as Simon Beaufoy added another trophy to his collection at the Writers Guild of America Awards. Beaufoy beat out Eric Roth for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Jonathan and Christopher Nolan for “The Dark Knight,” John Patrick Shanley for “Doubt,” and Peter Morgan for “Frost/Nixon.”

Original screenplay will be announced momentarily.

My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.

Another predictably bland list of winners - Slumdog, Milk, Mad Men, 30 Rock, Recount, John Adams.

I can cut the WGA some slack for rewarding the Milk screenplay; but is there any group out there that is willing to recognize a fresh crop of winners?

FYC:
"Up" for Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director

Are we mostly agreed that Milk had the best Original Screenplay out of that group, or this year?

No. But Milk winning seemed like a forgone conclusion since the nominations were announced.

Nice to see "Breaking Bad" score a deserved win for their pilot episode. 30 Rock won for the wrong episode (Believe in the Stars was stronger imo). I also liked that the Indie Spirit Awards won.

SNL winning any writing award is a joke that is far funnier than anything that's been on the show in recent memory.

Same old winners but deserving nonetheless.

Congratulations to Milk and Slumdog Millionaire. SM just swept all the guilds this Oscar season.

For the TV side, congratulations to 30 Rock and Mad Men. Good to see Breaking Bad getting notices.

I hope The Office wins as Best Comedy Series for this year's Emmy Awards.

Nah, I guess they just want to recognize who they think is the best, in their opinion.

How dare they.
